I laughed in his face.

“Ethan, remember? On the day of the original hearing, you tied my parents to chairs and strapped

bombs to them.”

“Filing new charges? You just signed her get-out-of-jail-free card. The legal red tape will take

months to undo.”

Ethan’s face went hollow.

The boomerang had come back.

The jury was furious.

“Ethan kidnapped his own in-laws to protect his assistant’s killer? And he accused Claire of cheating? He’s subhuman.”

“He forced Claire to sign a waiver for a body he didn’t even recognize. Now he finds out it was his

own sister.”

“His sister took torture for him for three days. And he helped her murderer walk free.”

Scarlett grabbed Ethan’s arm.

“Mr. Vance, don’t listen to them! Claire staged all of this. If I’d known it was your sister, I never

would’ve-”

Ethan backhanded her so hard her head snapped to the side.

“Scarlett! You’re still lying?”

Scarlett clutched her face. Tears spilled.

“I didn’t know! I thought she was Claire’s sister!”

I pulled out a USB drive.

“Are you sure about that?”

The security footage had been wiped. But I found a car’s dashcam that caught everything.

The pedestrian light turned green. Lily stepped onto the crosswalk carrying a birthday cake.

Scarlett’s car flew through the intersection. Hit her straight on.

She didn’t stop. She reversed.

The car rolled over her again.

Scarlett got out. Looked at the face.

Panic flickered. Then she made a call.

“Mr. Vance… I just hit Claire’s sister.’

The courtroom erupted again.

“That’s premeditated murder. And Ethan called Claire the monster?”

“There’s no way Scarlett didn’t recognize Lily. Ethan showed her photos constantly.”

“Scarlett knew exactly who she killed.”

Ethan lunged and grabbed Scarlett’s throat.

“You saw her face! You told me it was Claire’s sister!”

Scarlett gasped, clawing at his hands.
