Second Time Around, I Won’t Marry the Don Chapter 05

Second Time Around, I Won’t Marry the Don Chapter 05

His figure was excellent, and I had seen it countless times before, but now… my heart remained completely calm.

Keeping my head down, I apologized politely.

“I’m sorry, Young Master. I didn’t know you were here.”

He cleared his throat.

“I was heading to the bathroom.”

I nodded and stepped aside.

“After you.”

As we brushed past each other, a thought suddenly crossed my mind.

His room has its own bathroom.

Could it be blocked?

After that, I stopped using the main hallway altogether.

Mary left the back garden gate unlocked for me so I could go straight to my room without passing through the living room.

One day, Mary mentioned that Nathan had been in a terrible mood lately.

He had a very bad temper lately and would get angry for no reason. He even beat up a friend who often came to the Vitale house.

That was unusual.

Unless it involved Luna, Nathan had always been unreadable.

I couldn’t help feeling relieved.

Good thing I was rarely around.

Otherwise, I might’ve become collateral damage.

Unfortunately…

The peace didn’t last long.

Nathan’s birthday arrived.

He was leaving for college soon, making it his final birthday party before graduation.

He invited classmates and close friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Vitale were away that day.

Mary and the maids were swamped.

I pitched in.

I’d spent the entire day helping in the kitchen when one of the maids had a family emergency.

I ended up serving food instead.

The Vitale mansion blazed with lights as bright as day.

The party was already in full swing.

Teenagers drank.

Laughed.

Some even stripped down and jumped straight into the pool.

The moment I saw the pool, I instinctively walked around it.

Nathan sat quietly on a sofa nearby.

Unlike the other drunken teenagers sprawled everywhere, he remained composed.

He wore casual clothes.

Calm.

Reserved.

Even colder than he had been in my previous life.

I hurried over and set the fruit platter on the table.

As usual, Nathan didn’t spare me a glance.

Still…

Maybe it was my imagination, but his hand paused for just a second as he lifted his glass.

I set down the tray and turned to leave.

A drunken boy suddenly stepped into my path.

He looked sleazy.

His eyes roamed shamelessly over my body.

“You’re the Vitale housekeeper’s daughter? I’ve heard of you for a while. Not bad looking!”

“But still far from being worthy of our Nathan!”

“Let me see if besides your face, you have anything else—”

He tipped his wineglass toward my chest.

Nathan caught his wrist before a single drop spilled.

The boy froze.

Anger flashed across his face.

But the moment he saw Nathan, he swallowed it back.

He muttered instead,

“A few days ago, Tom just wanted to meet your housekeeper’s daughter.”

“You beat him up for it.”

“Don’t tell me, Nathan… you actually—”

Nathan’s face went cold.

His brows drew together.

“Her mother Mary is a long-time servant of the Vitale family. Their family has served my family for generations.”

“If you touch her, my parents won’t let it go.”

The boy sobered up instantly.

He pulled his hand back and made up an excuse to leave.

Within seconds, everyone watching scattered.

I finally let out a breath.

Just as I was about to walk away…

Those familiar custom-made shoes stopped in front of me.

I caught the scent of alcohol.

Nathan had walked over.

He’d obviously had plenty to drink.

He just wasn’t making a scene like everyone else.

He looked down at me silently.

His eyes stayed fixed on mine.

Seconds passed.

Then another.

He didn’t say a word.

The silence became unbearable.

Just as I was about to find an excuse to leave, Nathan suddenly stepped closer.

I jumped and stumbled backward.

My foot missed the edge.

I was falling into the pool.

The nightmare from my previous life crashed over me.

Nathan reacted even faster than I did.

He caught me around the waist before I fell.

His heartbeat thundered against my ear.

His arm clamped tightly around my waist, as if he had grabbed a treasure and refused to let go.

I pushed against his chest.

Nathan suddenly spoke, surprise filling his voice.

“You’re shaking.”

“You’re afraid of me?”
