My Dead Hero’s Wedding Chapter 05

My Dead Hero’s Wedding Chapter 05 The Midnight That Changed Everything

Outside the clubhouse, Adrian had just arrived when a group of his brothers swarmed around him.

He walked in quietly to make the final preparations.

Along both sides of the corridor, clusters of white roses were adorned with photos of Sienna.

They spanned her days at military academy to her time in the special forces, capturing her from youthful naivety to steely resolve.

He paused in his steps and frowned.

“The photos are out of order. This one is from when she was eighteen. Move it further out.”

He personally rearranged every photo in chronological order.

Next, he checked the menu.

“Remove all seafood. She’s allergic to it.

“Play her favorite march instead of the current music.

“Shift the gifts over here, so she sees them the moment she walks in.”

The men standing to the side exchanged bewildered glances.

“How can Adrian remember all these little details so clearly? Be honest, would any of us?”

“I can’t even remember my own wife’s birthday, let alone things like this.”

“He cares this much. Is it really true that he has no feelings left for Sienna? The things he said the other day…”

“Quit talking nonsense! He just has a good memory. Of course he’d remember more about his wife!”

At seven in the evening, the banquet officially began.

The hall was brightly lit, and Claire arrived soon after.

Adrian kept glancing toward the entrance, the anticipation in his eyes gradually clouding over. An inexplicable unease crept over him.

His phone rang; it was the driver.

“Captain Vale, Miss Blake isn’t home, and I can’t reach her.”

His heart lurched. He forced a calm expression and looked at Claire beside him.

Claire frowned as she made a call.

“The phone you are calling is turned off…”

Adrian’s face paled. The last words Sienna had spoken to him that afternoon echoed in his mind.

“Very well. I will disappear forever.”

Half past seven.

The doorway remained empty.

Eight o’clock.

The guests began to whisper among themselves, looking confused.

Nine o’clock.

A murmur rippled through the crowd, and the room erupted in chatter.

“Why hasn’t Sienna shown up yet?”

“Holy shit, Adrian, Sienna blocked me!”

Adrian’s pupils shrank sharply as he turned to the speaker.

A bright red exclamation mark stared back from the phone screen.

“I’m blocked too!”

“My messages won’t send either!”

Claire set down her phone, utterly stunned, “Me as well…”

Unnoticed even by himself, Adrian’s breathing grew ragged.

Everyone connected to him had been blocked without exception.

The others looked at him hesitantly.

“Could something have happened to Sienna? I remember she struggles with depression.”

“Adrian, check if she blocked you too.”

Instinctively, Adrian pulled out his personal phone. On the screen sat a single pinned chat box.

Yet his trembling fingers froze, unable to tap it open.

“Adrian?”

He put his phone away, “She’s probably stuck in traffic. Let’s wait a little longer.”

The crowd fell silent, baffled.

Traffic jams at this hour?

No one dared voice the toubts, seeing how fixated he was.

Ten o’clock.

The guests started to leave one by one.

Eleven o’clock.

Adrian kept his gaze locked on the entrance, not moving an inch.

Claire muttered with a frown, “It’s been four hours. If she wanted to come, she would have arrived long

ago.

“Let’s forget her and head home?”

After a long silence, Adrian spoke in a hoarse voice.

“The midnight bell hasn’t rung yet. Wait a while longer. She will come.”

The chime of midnight echoed outside the window.

His whole body jolted. In that instant, he knew for certain. The birthday and the special day were over. She was not coming.

He picked up his phone and typed with shaking hands./

“Sienna, where are you?”

The message failed to send. The red exclamation mark struck him like a heavy blow.

For five hours, he had tried to push the thought away, but now it overwhelmed him.

Sienna…

She was truly gone from his life.

Pale as a ghost, Adrian rushed out of the clubhouse.
