The Twins She Kept Secret Chapter 09

The Twins She Kept Secret Chapter 09

“The head healer said your chances of getting pregnant were almost zero.”

“I knew you always wanted children. I couldn’t bring myself to tell you. I couldn’t bear to break your heart, so I kept it from you.”

“That was why I panicked when you asked. I thought if you knew I couldn’t give you pups, you would leave. Or worse… you would try to fix yourself and end up hurting yourself.”

“All I ever wanted was you. For the rest of my life.”

My throat burned.

Silas realized it too.

“So when you heard me say I didn’t want children… you thought leaving was your only choice?”

………

I nodded, blinking hard as I fought back the heat in my eyes. “The healer said this was a miracle.

She said if I ended the pregnancy, I might never be able to carry pups again. So I decided to keep

them and raise them alone.”

Silas’s voice broke. “I’m sorry. Goddess, baby, I’m so sorry. I caused all of this.”

He stood and pulled me up with him. “Come home. Right now.”

Then he stopped, his eyes narrowing. “Wait. Your ‘boyfriend,’ Julian. You used him to trick me?”

Guilt tugged at me. “He’s my best friend. Don’t insult him.”

Before we left, Silas took Julian to a decent tavern, apologized for accusing him, and shoved a bank

card into his hand as thanks for taking care of me.

On the way back to the central territory, Silas kept his fingers locked with mine, his lips brushing my ear. “My mate is a miracle. Twins.”

I leaned into him and smiled faintly. “You’re not so bad yourself, Alpha.”

He grinned and kissed me slowly, deeply.

When it ended, he could not resist calling Marcus.

“Guess who found his mate and is about to become a father?”

Marcus’s choked “Oh my Goddess” echoed through the phone.

The moment we returned to the central territory, Silas headed straight for the pack council hall.

I hesitated and stopped him. “Isn’t this a little sudden?”

He ran a hand through his hair, looking almost embarrassed. “I’m just impatient. But you’re right. My Luna deserves a proper ceremony. We’ll go home first.”

I hesitated again. “Your family… will they accept me? And that princess…”

He lifted a brow, a smug smile playing on his lips. “Already taken care of.”

I remembered the scars on his back and looked up sharply. “Did you…”

“He only backed down after I made it very clear that you were the only woman I would ever make my Luna.” Silas’s jaw tightened. “He wanted an alliance with Greyfang Pack. He used the gossip to pressure me and paid photographers to crop those pictures on purpose. Baby, I was losing my mind. I never thought you would leave me.”

He cupped my face, his thumb wiping away tears I had not even realized were falling. “It’s over. They won’t touch you again. You’re mine now, and I’ll protect you

I threw myself into his arms and kissed him hard. “Thank you, Silas.”

His cheeks flushed. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me back, murmuring, “I love

you forever, baby.”

Two weeks later, Silas held a mating ceremony that left the whole territory in awe.

I was still stunned by how lavish it was, even as I lost myself in his arms.

He brought me into the pack hall. His parents welcomed me warmly, and although his grandfather

remained stern, even the old Alpha gave me a small nod.

During the banquet, Silas stood and announced that I was pregnant.

With twins.

Shock rolled through the hall, followed by thunderous cheers.

Even the old Alpha’s mouth twitched at the corners.

A month later, we signed the formal pack registry.

Pregnancy was hard on me, but Silas cleared his entire schedule and stayed by my side.

Every day, he brought me gifts. Ridiculous, beautiful things.

“My Luna, what do you think of this dress?”

“Baby… do you still think my muscles are getting soft?”

“Or this one… maybe you could use it to tie me up?”

Exhausted, I laughed and let him fuss over me.

Sometimes, I touched the fading scars on his back and thought about my life.

Was I lucky?

Then Silas would lay his hand over my swollen belly, his eyes bright with love, and I would think,

yes.

I was lucky.
