I Froze for 4 Hours Outside While He Threw a Party with Her Chapter 02

That speech where he blamed me was clipped into a video and posted online.

The caption read: “This high-maintenance girl has such a great boyfriend. How come I can’t find one?”

By the time I saw it, people attacking me had already flooded in like a tide.

“If I worked my ass off all day and came home to deal with a princess like this, I’d have kicked her out long ago.”

“Dude, take my advice. If she acts out again, just break up with her directly. You’re such a catch—she’ll be the one begging you.”

“You’re still spoiling her way too much. Just ignore her completely. That’s exactly how I deal with my girlfriend, and she falls right into line on her own.”

“Where did this drama queen come from? Watch me curse the princess syndrome right out of her.”

Below the comments, one of Julian’s friends even said my behavior was occasionally worse than in the video. The attacks grew fiercer.

The video spread fast.

It even affected my company and disrupted my family.

The video was posted by the girl who had been sitting next to Julian, feeding him drinks.

Julian was still scrolling through the comments under the video, dismissive.

“I asked Mia. She said she posted it because she was angry on my behalf. She just wanted people to weigh in. She didn’t think it through.”

“Those friends too—just standing up for me.”

“I’ll have her delete the video. You should just stop obsessing over it.”

“The facts are exactly what the video said. You just got yelled at a few times through a screen. It hasn’t actually affected you in any real way. Let’s just leave it at that.”

Before the video was even deleted, a notification popped up first.

Julian had liked this video.

When he saw me looking at him, only then did he seem to react, unliking it casually.

“Finger slipped.”

I didn’t say whether I believed him or not. Julian frowned first.

“Are you going to throw another tantrum now?”

“I’m very busy. I don’t have the energy to fight with you.”

“Just go calm yourself down.”

He had found his reason. “You calm down by yourself. You figure things out faster that way.”

I did figure things out. I changed every single habit Julian thought of as dramatic.

I stopped asking him at every spare moment whether he loved me. I stopped getting angry at him over his actions. I stopped needing him to check in while I checked up on him.

Julian said this meant I had finally matured.

I stopped watching him. He started coming home later and later.

Mia drove him back.

She bustled around busily, wanting to feed Julian water and wanting to massage his temples to ease the discomfort of his hangover.

Only then did she seem to remember something. She spoke softly and gently.

“I forgot. I should be going now. It should be Stella taking care of Julian.”

She spoke, but her body didn’t move.

Julian took her hand at just the right moment. “Mia.”

“My head hurts.”

She looked full of dilemma. “Julian doesn’t want me to leave.”

I leaned against the doorframe, as if watching a reluctant parting scene.

“Then just stay.”

Julian’s jacket draped over the sofa still carried the scent of Mia’s perfume.

I remembered the beginning of my frequent fights with Julian.

That day, it had been the same jacket. The same scent.

I had sat on the sofa, waiting for him until the early morning hours.

“You were completely unreachable all day today. Were you with Mia?”

He grunted. “Mia’s back in the country. A few friends got together to catch up.”

He didn’t look at me. He took off his jacket freely, loosened his tie, and pushed open the bathroom door.

I followed him closely, like standing on the edge of a cliff.

“Julian, have you forgotten what you promised me? That you wouldn’t see her?”

He shot me a sideways glance, with a trace of annoyance barely perceptible.

“Are you ever going to stop? How long ago was it that Mia confessed to me?”

“Can you not be so jealous?”

“I’m begging you. Think about something useful.”

Julian brushed away my hand that was holding the bathroom door.

The door closed.

Separating us into two different worlds.
