Accidentally Yours Chapter 07

Accidentally Yours Chapter 07

Dorian was frantic.

Isolde didn’t have her phone, so we couldn’t reach her.

The hotel’s security footage would take time.

I had a sinking feeling and gently warned Dorian.

“Take it easy. Isolde’s always been optimistic. Let’s not assume the worst. Maybe something came up. I’ll get more people to look for her.”

I couldn’t tell Dorian about Thorne’s feelings for Isolde.

Human nature is fragile. What if he got the wrong idea and it caused problems between them?

I didn’t waste any time. I drove straight to Thorne’s place.

Good thing I used to stalk him.

I knew where he lived, where his other properties were. Everything.

I found him easily.

He opened the door and seemed genuinely surprised to see me.

“How did you know I live here?”

I tried to peek inside, but he blocked most of the view.

I wasn’t about to start a fight.

I had no proof he’d taken Isolde anyway.

“Mr. Ashford’s a public figure now. It wasn’t hard to find you. But I’m curious. Aren’t you and Isolde friends? Why didn’t you show up to her engagement?”

Thorne loosened his tie slightly, his voice low.

“I was just about to head over. We can go together.”

I blocked his way. “But Isolde’s missing.”

He raised an eyebrow. “So?”

See? No reaction.

Any normal person would at least pretend to be concerned if their friend vanished at their own

engagement party.

Unless he already knew where she was.

That sealed it for me. Isolde’s disappearance had to be Thorne’s doing.

I looked at him, my tone sharp.

“So I suspect you kidnapped her because you can’t have her, and you’re bitter about it.”

Thorne frowned and repeated, “I’m pining over Isolde, so I kidnapped her?”

“Heh.”

Thorne laughed.

“Elara, you’ve got quite the imagination.”

“What do you mean?”

Suddenly, I wasn’t so sure.

What if I was wrong?

Thorne stepped closer, one step at a time.

“Who told you I like Isolde? Did Isolde say that, or did you just assume?”

I stared at the man in front of me, swallowing nervously.

Who told me? He did!

But I couldn’t say that.

If I did, he’d know I was the one on those late-night calls.

Faking indignation, I shoved him back. “I need to see for myself.”

Thorne moved aside, so I marched right into his house.

Honestly, I didn’t know what I was doing.

I was acting like a maniac, searching every corner.

Every single room.

I was terrified of finding Isolde there, and equally terrified of not finding her.

Thorne didn’t stop me.

He followed behind, his gaze as cold as ice.

Some doors were locked, but he opened them for me.

After searching everywhere, only the master bedroom was left.

But I already knew the answer.

It didn’t matter if I opened that door or not.

If Thorne weren’t Isolde’s friend, even after three years, I’d never have the courage to get this

close.

But what was I doing now?

Using that connection to act like a total lunatic.

And yet, deep down, I knew. I was just using this as an excuse to step into his world for once.

Even I was disgusted with myself.

I covered my face, tears streaming down.

“I’m sorry.”

I kept my back to him.

What else could I say?

Then Thorne spoke. “Why stop now? If you’re going to look, look at everything.”

He came up beside me and pushed the door open.

I looked up, and my breath caught.

On the largest wall in the bedroom hung a massive portrait.

It was incredibly lifelike, down to the fine hairs on her skin.

In the painting, the girl’s eyes curved into a smile, her lips slightly parted, her gaze seeming to look. right at the person standing before it.

I was stunned because the girl in the painting was me.

How could it be me?

I looked at the signature at the bottom. It was Thorne’s.

Dated three years ago, right when we were deep in our online affair.

That meant he knew who he was talking to all along?
