The Secret Inside the Sofa Chapter 07

The Secret Inside the Sofa Chapter 07

I looked at Victoria and Justin-panic written all over their faces-and said coldly, “If they hadn’t been so brazen as to carry on in broad daylight, I wouldn’t have been able to produce such straightforward

evidence.”

The gallery instantly erupted. The wave of chatter nearly lifted the roof.

“You really can’t judge a person by appearances. What a shameless pair!”

“Matt’s had it the worst, being schemed against by the people closest to him!”

“No wonder he insisted on divorce-who could tolerate a betrayal like that?”

I raised a hand for silence, my gaze settling on Victoria’s ashen face.

Pointing to the structural diagram of the sofa on the screen, I said, “The base of this sofa was hollowed out and fitted with a hidden compartment-just large enough to conceal an adult man.”

My lawyer immediately initiated a video call, the camera switching to my living room.

On screen, a worker demonstrated the mechanism.

With a press of a concealed latch on the armrest, the base slowly lifted, revealing a storage space over

four feet deep.

A man of average build climbed inside with ease. Once the base was closed, there was no visible trace of anything unusual.

“This is only the first piece of evidence.”

I signaled for the second video. The screen shifted to the face of a furniture store owner.

“Sir, do you remember who custom-ordered this sofa?” my lawyer asked.

The owner nodded vigorously.

“Of course I remember! Last autumn, a man and a woman came in to place the order. They specifically requested a hidden compartment and even paid double the deposit. I thought it was strange, but they said it was for a special purpose. The money was good, so I did as they asked.”

I took the phone and turned the camera toward Victoria and Justin.

“Take a closer look. Are these the two?”

The owner squinted for a moment, then answered with certainty, “Yes! It’s them! The woman was

pregnant, and the man stayed right by her side. He even told me not to mention it to anyone.”

Before he could finish, Justin lunged forward like a madman.

“You’re lying! This is slander!”

He reached for the phone, but I sidestepped him. He stumbled and fell hard to the ground.

At this point, there was no room left for denial.

Victoria’s parents stared at their daughter, furious and disappointed. Unable to bear their gaze, Victoria suddenly screamed, pointing at Justin as she lashed out, “It was him! It was all his idea! He said Matt was

rough, that he didn’t know how to treat me well. He kept coming around, telling me he’d take care of me for the rest of my life!”

Seeing himself blamed by the woman he loved, Justin scrambled to his feet and shouted back, “That’s

bullshit, Victoria! You were the one who came on to me first! You said Matt wasn’t good enough-you

even told me you’d wanted a divorce for a long time!”

Like rabid dogs, the two of them tore into each other, dragging their sordid affair into the open in the

ugliest way possible.

In the scuffle, Victoria’s hair was yanked loose. She collapsed onto the floor, then crawled toward me,

sobbing, “Matt, I was wrong! Please forgive me this once, okay?”

She clutched at the hem of my pants, her eyes brimming with tears.

“We have a child together… he’s your flesh and blood. For his sake, give me one more chance.”

I shook her hand off sharply, my voice as cold as ice. “You even have the nerve to bring up the child?”
