Bound To The Moon Priestess Chapter 02

Bound To The Moon Priestess Chapter 02

After that day, I never wrote another letter.

At breakfast, Mom gave me her usual orders.

“Isara’s stomach is acting up today. Take good care of her.”

I chewed my bread slowly. “Okay.”

At the temple, I picked Isara’s favorite herbs nearby, just like always. I made a sachet to ease her discomfort.

Then I brought it to her room.

Isara wasn’t there.

I set the sachet on her desk.

After a moment’s thought, I added a few pieces of candy.

That was when a guy at the door raised an eyebrow, blocking my way.

He had wild red hair and a cocky smirk. He looked me up and down, sneering. “Who the hell are you? Don’t you know Isara has a boyfriend?”

I didn’t know this guy. I stepped back. “I’m the Sun Priest.”

“Yeah, I know.” He grabbed my sachet and threw it on the ground. “I’ve been watching you. You come to the temple every day, carrying stuff for Isara, running errands, buying her drinks.

“Tch. You’re that desperate? Look at yourself. Do you even measure up?”

He cornered me against the wall, speaking so.

He was too close. I felt like he was about to punch me, so I squeezed my eyes shut in fear.

“Enough.

“Leoric. Don’t cross the line.”

A calm voice came from the side.

Roran walked over gracefully, wearing leather armor and carrying a sword. He glanced at me, then said flatly, “Priest. Take your candy back. She doesn’t need it. And from now on, stay away from Isara.”

His voice was nice. He was polite, too.

He didn’t just fail to recognize me—he saw me as a rival.

Even if he knew the truth, he’d only feel disgust, not like me.

Just then, Isara rushed back, smiling gently.

“Oh, you boys are impossible!”

She naturally linked her arm through Roran’s and pointed at me. “Him? He’s my twin brother. The temple’s tradition is that a girl becomes the Moon Priestess, and a boy becomes the Sun Priest.”

Roran blinked. “Your brother picked herbs for you and brought you candy?”

Isara raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong with that? He’s the Sun Priest—way more capable than me. Isn’t it only right that he takes care of his twin sister?”

After a moment of silence, Roran realized his mistake. He reached out to me and said sincerely, “Sorry.”

I forced a smile, but I couldn’t laugh.

Back in our letters, he used to say such flirty things that made me blush. “What are you so afraid of me for? If we ever meet, what could I possibly do to you?”

But I never imagined.

When we finally did meet, all he managed to say was “Sorry.”

After that, maybe out of guilt, Roran had someone deliver some things to me.

A few thick notebooks on herbology, and some hard-to-find moonstones.

Leoric Grimward, the red-haired guy who’d cornered me—also an Alpha in the pack—handed the notes over casually.

“Roran’s mom was the most badass werewolf apothecary in the forest. Her notes might help you with your priest exam.”

I hesitated.

Leoric threw an arm around my shoulder.

“Come on, don’t hold a grudge. We were out of line that day. Just don’t bad-mouth us to your sister.”

In my head, I thought, “So he likes Isara too.”
