While Watching Drama, the Heroine Warned Me About My Best Friend Chapter 02

Celia’s eyes flashed with reluctance. She bit her lip and said, “Vera, how about I come with you to the other car?”

I saw right through her scheme—she was still determined to set me up.

Just then, the conductor arrived. “Who said they wanted to upgrade to a soft sleeper?”

Before I could answer, Celia cut in. “It’s me.”

She pointed at herself and me. “We both want lower bunks in the same private car.”

The conductor looked at me for confirmation. I held Celia’s gaze for a few seconds, then nodded, but I already had a plan in mind.

After we moved to the new car, Celia finally let out a sigh of relief. When she saw me lie down, she clutched her stomach and went to the bathroom.

The moment she left, I sat up straight and walked directly over to an elderly woman nearby. She was standing in the aisle, giving the conductor a hard time.

“We paid the same price! Why do I get the top bunk? You’re discriminating against old people! I’m going to report you!”

I walked over and gently tapped her on the shoulder. “Ma’am, I’m in the lower bunk. You can take mine.”

I pointed at my bed. The old woman’s sour expression instantly lit up with joy. “Oh, you’re so kind. Then I won’t be polite.”

Afraid I might change my mind, she quickly moved her luggage onto my bed and lay down.

I turned around and moved my things to the old woman’s original top bunk.

Just as I finished, Celia came back beaming. When she saw me on the opposite top bunk, she froze.

“Vera? Weren’t we supposed to be across from each other on the lower bunks? Why are you up there?”

I sneered inwardly—of course, to keep as far away from you as possible.

The old woman on the lower bunk suddenly spoke up. “She took pity on this old lady and gave me her bunk. What’s it to you?”

Her voice was loud and dripping with sarcasm. “As for you—ugly and full of tricks. Anyone can tell you have a rotten heart.”

Celia’s face reddened with anger. She pointed a trembling finger at the old woman. “What are you talking about!”

The commotion drew the conductor. “Ma’am, the train lights are out now. Please keep your voice down.”

The old woman popped her head out and said with disgust, “You heard her—keep it down. So rude!”

Celia looked at me pleadingly and said in a small voice, “Vera, I…”

I ignored her and simply turned over to face the wall. “I’m going to sleep now. You should get some rest too, in your lower bunk.”

Celia’s eyes flashed with resentment, and she climbed into her bunk in frustration.

In the darkness, I kept my eyes wide open. To guard against any further moves from Celia, I stayed on high alert.

Sure enough, as we approached the next station, something happened to Celia.

She was sitting on the floor, clutching her stomach in agony. Passengers gathered around, and the conductor rushed over.

But she kept calling my name. “Vera, Vera… please save my baby…”
