Mated to Another, Imprisoned by Him Chapter 05 The Snatch

I lifted my head to look at Adrian, standing against the light.

Ten years had left no mark on him-if anything, his high station had only added to the commanding presence

of a high-ranking Alpha.

For a split second, the scene before me overlapped with memories from a decade prior

Beyond the visiting room window at the psychiatric hospital, he’d stood with his hands behind his back, watching coldly as orderlies dragged me back to the isolation ward.

Shadow had obscured most of his face, but the glacial contempt in his eyes had cut through the glass all the

same.

Now he stood before me, the same lighting blurring his expression-but this time, there was a palpable

tension in the way he held himself

Isla stared, confused. “You know Hazel?”

Adrian’s gaze stayed fixed on me, his voice was strained.

“The bullet casing… the one you gave me. It’s still with you.”

Isla’s eyes widened. “Hazel, you said he was just a regular customer!”

She glanced at the bracelet in her hand. “And you called this trash.

Adrian’s eyes darkened.

I set down the ledger “If he wants it, give it to him.”

Sensing the tension, Isla flung the bracelet at him with clear distrust.

Adrian fumbled to catch it, his fingers shook with a fine tremor.

“Hazel how have you been all these years?”

I smiled. “Fine Is there anything else, Alpha?”

The box of macarons in his hand was crushed, the box distorted from the force of his grip

He hung his head in silence for a long moment, then spoke hoarsely, “I want chocolate chip cookies”

“Will you make them for me again? Just once?”

He’d noticed, of course-display cases lined with every dessert imaginable, and not a single chocolate chip

cookie among them.

Isla scowled, cutting in before I could speak. “No way! Hazel only makes chocolate chip cookies for me!”

Adrian stiffened, his gaze locking onto mine. “Hazel…”

I met his eyes calmly. “I’m sorry, but we don’t serve chocolate chip cookies here.”

“You might try another shop.”

Adrian’s pupils contracted, his breath quickening sharply.

“Don’t do this… I’d rather you still hated me, like you did back then.”

Hate?

Of course I’d hated him.

At sixteen, I’d carried him bloodied and broken from the snow I’d waited three years for him, stood by him

through his darkest days.

Everything I had to give-and everything I didn’t-I’d laid at his feet

In return, I was left shattered, a pariah whispered about by the entire pack

That snowy winter night, I’d collapsed in the snow, the cold seeped so deep it felt like my very soul was

fracturing.

But even then, I’d refused to give up. I’d dragged myself to his pack house,

My frostbitten hands pounding on the iron gates, screaming his name. I’d clutched a shard of glass, ready to

slash his face-to make him feel the same agony of betrayal that had torn me apart.

Instead, pack warriors had seized me.

They’d called me a “madwoman,” a “psychotic nobody trying to climb the social ladder.”

After what felt like an eternity, Adrian had finally appeared, Eden in his arms.

Once timid and shy, Eden now wore a custom cashmere coat, every hair in place, exuding an effortless

grace

Her features radiated a pampered, contented softness of someone who’d been coddled and cherished.

Shed sighed softly Hazel, why do you make this so hard for yourself?”

Adrian hadn’t even spared me a glance

His eyes were on his warriors as he issued a cold command.

“If she causes trouble again, detain her for threatening pack security.”

“Authorized to use lethal force.”
