Mated to Another, Imprisoned by Him Chapter 04

Mated to Another, Imprisoned by Him Chapter 04 I’m Taking Her Back
Never see each other again.
What did that mean?
My hand shook as I tried to send another message—I was blocked.
I turned to the Beta beside me, voice low and dangerous. “Go get Nina. Now.”
The Beta shrank back, his voice trembling. “Alpha, Miss Nina has already left the Silver Moon Pack…””Who gave her permission?”
“You signed the papers three days ago. It took effect this afternoon…”
It hit me.
The document she asked me to sign.
So she had planned this all along.
No. I wouldn’t allow it.
Nina, you’re never getting away from me.
I clenched my fists, ready to go after her, but the Beta stopped me.
“Alpha, emergency. Intel found something.” His face was grim.
He dropped a file in front of me.
I glanced at it. My stomach dropped.
“The vampire attack outside the hospital… Sally arranged it. She wanted Nina dead.”
“And after Sally left you, she’s been living with a vampire prince. She sold him our pack’s defense maps. That’s why we kept losing the war…”
My mind buzzed.
The bodies on the battlefield. The land we lost. And Nina… nearly dying…
All of it.
Because of me.
I slammed my fist into the wall, gritting my teeth.
“Lock Sally up. Now.”
The underground interrogation room.
Sally was locked in the Silver Cage, silver chains biting into her wrists. She was filthy, hair matted.
The silver was burning her.
I pushed the door open.
Tears flooded her eyes the second she saw me.
“Winder! You’re finally here! It hurts… please, save me…”
I cut her off.
“You brought the vampire?”
I stood over her, looking down. My voice was ice.
She froze.
“Winder, what are you talking about… I don’t understand…”
“The money transfers. The videos. The maps.” I spoke slowly. “Do you want me to lay it all out for you?”
Her face went white.
She sobbed, grabbing my pant leg. Black smoke rose from her hand where the silver ate into her skin.
“Winder, I was forced… You don’t know what they did to me… They hit me, treated me like an animal…”
“And what did Nina ever do to you?”
“Nina! Nina! Nina!” she screamed. “Since when do you care about her? You said you only loved me! I’m your fated mate!”
Tears streamed down her face.
“Did you forget the first time you saw me? Your wolf spirit went wild. You waited three years! You said I was the only one!”
“Winder, how could you love someone else?”
Silence.
I looked at her.
The face I used to dream about.
But now, there was only one person in my head.
Nina.
I remembered…
Her smiling as she said, “I love you best, Winder.”
Her throwing our things into the trash in that toolshed.
Her collapsed in the snow, weakly calling my name.
Her telling me we were done.
My chest tightened.
Something twisted inside me.
I think…
I think I loved her.
When did it start?
Maybe the day she gave me that charm from the Moon Goddess, blushing.
Maybe all those times her wolf spirit was unstable and she curled up in pain, never making a sound.
Or every time I hurt her, and she still came running with the medicine.
I…
I had loved her for a long time.
I was just blind for three years. Mistaking obsession for love. Pushing her away.
And I only realized it when she was already gone.
“Winder, talk to me!” Sally’s voice snapped me back.
I looked at her. The last bit of warmth in my eyes died.
“I didn’t fall in love with someone else.” I stared at her coldly. “I just finally realized… the person I love was never you.”
I looked down at Sally, collapsed on the floor.
“Stay here. Let the silver eat you alive.”
I turned and walked out.
“Winder!” she screamed, terror in her voice. “Come back! I’m begging you… it hurts… please…”
Her voice changed from pleading to shrieking, then cursing.
“You can’t kill me! I’m your fated mate! Your wolf spirit will suffer backlash! You’ll regret this! You bastard!”
I knew that.
But she hurt Nina.
And my heart said she couldn’t be forgiven.
Even if my wolf spirit disappeared.
I didn’t look back.
Behind me, the sound of silver burning flesh grew louder.
Sally’s screams faded.
In the end, there was only a pile of gray-black ash left in the interrogation room.
And my wolf spirit felt like it was being torn apart.
Half a month later.
The Beta burst into my bedroom, panting.
“Alpha, we found her! Miss Nina is in the Blue Moon Pack. Tomorrow, she becomes Nick’s mate!”
My body went rigid. My mind buzzed. My feet were already moving before I could think.
“Alpha, where are you going?” the Beta shouted behind me.
I didn’t answer.
I had only one thought in my head.
I’m taking her back.
