The Rejected Luna Returns Chapter 09

The Rejected Luna Returns Chapter 09

Eden froze where she stood, too terrified even to turn around.

Adrian stepped inside first, his expression softening slightly when he confirmed I was unharmed.

Luna Juliet and Mike followed, their eyes sweeping over the chaos before hardening into cold fury:

“What have you done?”

The scene was brought under control quickly.

They stared at me in stunned silence-no doubt unaccustomed to seeing me wielding a mop handle as a

weapon.

I set down my “weapon” and said nothing.

Isla scoffed. “Your promises are worthless! Filthy liars, all of you!”

The three of them averted their eyes, shamefaced. “Hazel, we’ll make sure this is handled properly.”

Adrian’s voice was strained. “Just… be well. And stay away from the likes of us.”

I didn’t bother responding.

Eden, utterly ignored, suddenly shrieked. “Why do you only see her when she’s around?! Adrian, I’m your

Luna!”

“Don’t you remember? You’re the ones who sent her to the werewolf asylum! You’re the ones who called her crazy! Now you pretend to care about her?!”

She sobbed uncontrollably, but the three who’d once doted on her showered her with nothing but a cold glance-just as they’d done to me years before.

Adrian’s tone turned icy. “You were explicitly forbidden from coming here.”

“Consider this your final warning. Disobey me, and the doors of that sanatorium will be the last you ever

see”

Mike and Luna Juliet watched coldly, offering her no defense.

The bitter irony of the tableau was not lost on me.

Scarred by his past, Adrian had always been a pathological, consuming hunger for status and influence-his affections, no matter who they were directed at, were forever entangled with cold, pragmatic calculation.

He turned on me once it was only natural he’d turn on Eden now

As for Luna Juliet and Mike they’d always favored the “underdog”

First it had been & den, newly returned to the pack. Now it was me, “reduced” to life as a commoner

A scream jolted me from my thoughts.

Will pointed at the floor beneath Eden. “Blood Luna’s bleeding!”

Her light-colored dress was already stained crimson

Eden’s face drained of color as she reached out to Adrian.

“My child save our baby Adrian Mother Mike, please !”

Her hand hung in the empty air, met by nothing but cold indifference.

Luna Juliet frowned Take her to the pack hospital We’re not healers”

Adrian’s expression remained unchanged, as if the bleeding woman before him was not his Luna, and the

child she carried not his own

The final light in Eden’s eyes guttered and went out, leaving only a hollow, shattered void.

Once everyone had left, Luna Juliet pushed a velvet box toward me

Mike’s voice was hoarse with regret. “This was your dowry, prepared all those years ago.”

“Hazel, it’s all we have left to give you.”

I didn’t accept it

They set the box down anyway, then left with red-rimmed eyes.

Adrian lingered, staring at me for a long time before his voice cracked, “Call me if you ever need anything….”

“The truth is, I’ve always loved the Hazel who carried me home that snowy night.”

Tm the one who lost you

He stumbled out the door, leaving me behind.

Later word spread that the young Alpha warrior had died in a training accident near the pack borders-his body never fully recovered

His Luna, Eden, upon receiving the news, was found dead the next morning from an overdose of sleeping

pills.

The once-powerful Darkstone Pack, its line of succession shattered, gradually faded from prominence until

it was little more than a forgotten name in the annals of the Werewolf Realm.

To live out our lives on separate paths, never to cross again-that was the only fitting end to our story.
