At my tug, Lucian’s ears tinged pink.

He glanced down, then pressed a slender finger to my lips.

My protest died.

His voice dropped, husky. “That’s your lipstick.”

“From this morning’s kiss. I didn’t want to wash it off.”

My face went nuclear.

Lucian was a psychopathic villain. But as a boyfriend? He was infuriatingly perfect.

I scrambled for dignity. “Honey, don’t think I’m clingy. I’m just insecure. I need you with me always. Eyes only on me. That’s why I’m emotional…”

“Okay.”

He cut me off.

He produced a pair of silver handcuffs from nowhere.

His smile was gentle. Under the dim light, it looked eerily obsessed.

“Then let’s chain ourselves together. Never apart. Agreed, honey?”

I froze. Stumbled back.

You’ve got to be kidding.

Who carries handcuffs?

But Lucian advanced, unhurried.

His soft voice hammered my heart.

“Your little show tonight… should I take that as you missing me?”

I tried to explain. Then he pinned me to the wall. Tilted my chin. Kissed me deep.

Heat exploded. Consuming everything.

His scent. His warmth. His touch. Invading. Overwhelming.

I couldn’t breathe. Head tipping back.

Lucian whispered against my ear.

“Don’t worry, honey. We’ll never be apart.”

Thankfully, when I sobbed it was a joke, he didn’t keep me cuffed forever.

But as punishment, he kept them on for one relentless night.

I woke with a backache that defied description.

Rubbing my spine, I analyzed my failure.

I’d been possessive enough. He was more possessive.

A perfect trap.

At this rate, making him sick of me was impossible.

His brain didn’t work like others’.

When I clung, he didn’t get annoyed.

He got off on it.

I pulled the system in for a new plan.

After deep thought, it offered a tailored strategy.

“Host, I get it. A possessive freak like Lucian likes clingy types.”

“Reverse it. Act detached. Defiant.”

I frowned. “Explain.”

“Glare with bloodshot eyes. Curse him. Belittle him. Tell him you hate him. Say no one can stand a freak like him.”

“A control freak won’t tolerate rebellion.”

“He’ll rage. Throw you out. Guaranteed.”

Made sense.

One problem. Bloodshot eyes?

I strained my eyes wide. Nothing.

Needed another method.

So when Lucian returned that night, he found me with eyes swollen and red. Clearly cried out.

He crossed the room in strides. Bent to examine my face. “What’s wrong?”

Remembering the system’s advice, I glared with forced venom. “I hate you!”

Lucian didn’t react. He gently rubbed my puffy eyelids, nodding.

“Yes. But I love you.”

“And because I love you, tell me what happened.”

His voice was liquid, defusing my attack.

I paused. Stammered. “You dare ask?”

“Y-you’re twisted. Who could stand you?”

Attitude, yes. But my voice was hoarse from actual crying. It lacked bite.

Lucian studied me. His Adam’s apple bobbed. Then he murmured, rough.

“Alright, honey. I was wrong to cuff you.”

“No more tears. I’ll be gentler next time.”

“Or cuff me whenever you want. Revenge is yours.”

Sometimes I wondered if Lucian lived on a different frequency.

He always twisted the conversation.

He ruffled my dazed hair, then stood. “Ice packs for your eyes.”

Panic. I’d summoned the courage to insult him. If interrupted, I’d never recover my nerve.

I shoved his shoulders. Hard.

Caught off guard, he fell back onto the bed.

I planted my high heel on his abs.

The system cheered in my skull. “Yes! That’s it! Humiliate him!”

Lucian seemed frozen in shock.
