When My Alpha Chose My Best Friend Chapter 05

When My Alpha Chose My Best Friend Chapter 05

My body collapsed in a pool of blood. My soul drifted lightly above.

Selene stared at my lifeless body. Her legs gave way beneath her.

She crumpled onto the floor, clutching her head as a heart-wrenching scream tore from her throat.

“Aurora!”

Kael let out a roar, his face ashen.

He lunged forward, ignoring the blood, and gathered me in his arms.

His hands shook violently as he pressed them against the deep wound in my throat, desperately trying to

stop the blood pouring through his fingers.

“Healer! Save her! Do something!”

The stunned Pack Healers finally snapped back to reality.

“Quick! Stop the bleeding! Prepare a blood transfusion!”

The peaceful corridor dissolved into complete chaos.

My body was wheeled into the emergency chamber, while Kael and Selene were forced to remain outside.

Only minutes earlier, another operation had taken place behind those same doors.

Yet Kael’s reaction couldn’t have been more different.

Selene slowly reached out, gripping the sleeve of his bloodstained shirt.

Tears shimmered in her eyes.

“Aurora… she’ll be alright, won’t she?”

“She’s always been afraid of pain. She’s always been afraid of dying. So why would she…

Kael didn’t answer. He seemed lost.

Was I really afraid of death? Not entirely.

If I were so timid and fragile, I never would have thrown herself in front of those rogue wolves to protect Selene years ago.

After that, I couldn’t sleep for countless nights.

He knew that.

Several times, he saw me hold a silver dagger against my wrist, then put it down.

He saw me climb onto the balcony railing, one foot already hanging over the edge, then pull back.

He broke out in cold sweat every time.

He wanted to be with me-but Selene was struggling too. She was haunted by guilt and couldn’t sleep

without him.

So he stayed with her.

Worried I might hurt myself, he had pack members watch me in shifts.

Just as he’d expected, I slowly clawed her own way out of the darkness-

while Selene recovered under his care.

It was during that time that he accidentally learned the truth.

One night, Selene cried out in her sleep.

She confessed everything without realizing it.

She had been the one who hired the rogues.

Kael was shocked. He raged at her.

Selene cried hysterically.

“I couldn’t stand it! She got the best of everything without trying while I had to bleed for every scrap!”

“Kael, you know I was once the daughter of the Everhart Pack! I used to have everything! I wasn’t supposed to spend my childhood surviving in an orphan refuge.”

As she cried, she revealed countless scars covering her body.

Only then did Kael realize what she’d endured growing up.

He pitied her.

But he also knew that telling me the truth would only reopen wounds that had barely begun to heal.

So he stayed silent.

Then he remembered the look in my eyes on Mooncliff Ledge-and it felt like a piece of his heart had been

torn out.

He stared at the operating chamber and began to wonder:

Had he made the right choice?

Finally, the doors opened. A Pack Healer hurried outside.

“Where are Aurora Moonfall’s blood-kin!”

Kael and Selene rushed forward simultaneously.

“We’re here!”

The healer’s expression was grave.

“Her bloodline is extremely rare. Our reserves are nearly exhausted. We’ll need someone with the same bloodline immediately…”

Before the healer could finish, Kael shoved Selene forward.

“Her! Take her blood! They share the same blood type!”

Selene’s eyes widened in disbelief. She instinctively stepped backward.

“Kael… I just gave birth! How can I possibly donate blood now?”!
