Stella let out a huge sigh of relief and stepped forward to loop her arm through Josiah’s, “Honey, did you hear that? She stole my account. I looked for it for ages and thought I’d never hear from you again. I can’t believe I ran into you here today.”

“What are you talking about?” I looked up, “I didn’t steal your account. You gave it to me!”

Stella’s smile vanished in an instant. “Hazel, don’t be ridiculous. I love my boyfriend so much, why would I ever give him to you?”

With that, Stella turned back to Josiah and acted coquettishly, “Honey, look at her. She’s been lying to you about everything. Did you spend a lot of money on her? Get it all back and send this liar to the police station.”

I stared at Stella in disbelief.

I never thought she’d be this ruthless. Calling me a liar was one thing, but telling Josiah to have me arrested?

I wanted to keep defending myself, to say I’d never stolen her account, but under Josiah’s unwavering gaze, the words died in my throat.

After all, I had tricked him, pretending to be someone else the whole time.

It was only natural for Josiah to be angry.

I braced myself for his furious outburst, for him to actually call the police on me, but he suddenly pulled his arm free from Stella’s grasp and let out a sigh.

“You think I didn’t know the account had changed hands? I’ve known all along.”

Stella stared at him, dumbfounded, “How… how could you know?”

Josiah looked at her, “One of you only ever talks about money, the other only ever talks about studying. Do you take me for an idiot?”

“Stella, I had you investigated the very day you stopped replying to me. I would have let it go if you’d just stayed out of my life, but you’re talking about my girlfriend like this now. Don’t blame me for being rude.”

After speaking to Stella, Josiah turned to the man behind her, “Jake, is it?”

The man perked up at the sound of his name and hurried over, “Yes, sir. What can I do for you, Mr. Kent?”

Josiah said, “How well do you know Ms. Reed?”

Jake froze for a second, then forced a smile, “She’s my new girlfriend. Why?”

“New girlfriend?” Josiah’s lips twitched into a faint smirk, “Then do you know she’s a serial cheater? She has at least five fake accounts and is seeing over a dozen men at the same time.”

Jake’s face contorted into a mix of shock and anger in an instant.

Stella panicked, “You’re lying! I did not!”

Josiah didn’t even spare her a glance, “Jake, Kent Group doesn’t do business with fools. I think you know what you need to do now.”

Jake stared for a few seconds, then made up his mind and turned to Stella.

Realization dawned on her face. “W-what do you want to do? You can’t be serious…”

“Stella,” Jake said, his expression cold, “we’re over. And you have to pay back every penny I spent on you.”

Stella refused outright, “Have you lost your mind? You believe everything he says? Am I really less important to you than a business deal?”

Jake let out a cold laugh, “What else did you expect? Do you really think you’re that special?”

The two of them started arguing fiercely at once.

The comments flashed across my vision in a blur.

[Damn, Josiah’s move is ruthless!]

[Wait, how could he do this to Stella? Isn’t he supposed to dote on her? Total jerk!]

[Seriously? She was juggling eight guys and she’s the victim now?]

[I officially ship Hazel and Josiah from today on! At least she’s actually trying to study and make something of herself!]

[Am I the only one who noticed Josiah said he knew the account was switched all along? So he’s been playing along with Hazel this whole time? That’s so sweet!]

I stood there in a daze until a large warm hand wrapped around mine and pulled me toward the door.

“You okay?”
