She Called Him Controlling I Called Him My Ticket To Ivy Chapter 03

Josiah’s net worth was more than all the rich boys in Stella’s little roster combined.

And that face? Better than any celebrity’s.

[Oh no, now that the side chick knows his real identity, she’ll never let go.]

[Back off, side chick! The old man belongs to Stella!]

[Don’t worry, everyone, once he finds out she’s not Stella, he’ll dump her in an instant.]

The word “dump” jolted me awake.

Josiah would come back for Stella someday, that much was certain.

But until then? I’m gonna play the perfect online girlfriend. I’m gonna treat Josiah like my own personal sugar daddy.

I grabbed my phone at once and fired off a flood of thanks and sweet nothings to Josiah.

In my haste, I typed one line too many: [Thanks, Daddy, for putting me through college. I’ll pay you back someday, I swear.]

By the time I realized what I’d written, it was too late to unsend it.

I was doomed.

My cover was about to be blown, and I’d fail to get into Kenilworth University before I even took the SAT.

Just as I panicked, a voice message from Josiah popped up, “Alright, baby.”

His tone was low and deep.

But I knew it.

That “Daddy” thing? He ate it up.

I’d just walked back to the dorm with my arms full of shopping bags when Stella came crowding over to me.

“Hazel, who was that man who dropped you off this afternoon? Did he buy all these things for you?”

I paused and said, “You know… that online boyfriend you passed to me?”

Stella frowned, looking clearly displeased.

“What did you do? When I was with him, he only gave me five grand a month, and now he’s buying you all this stuff?”

Lucky for me, I’d thought ahead.

I hurried to open the bags and show her the contents, saying, “Look, there’s a lot of stuff, but it’s all cheap. This T-shirt’s only twenty bucks, the jeans are thirty-nine. All of it together doesn’t even add up to two hundred.”

Stella’s expression softened a little, but she still wouldn’t let it go. “Are you lying to me? I saw the car he was driving. At least a million.”

My heart skipped a beat, but my face stayed calm as I said, “It’s a company car. He’s a secretary for someone. He gets to drive his boss’s car occasionally for work.”

Relief washed over Stella then. “I thought he was actually rich or something.”

She let out a snort and said, “But even a secretary is more than you could get with your looks. He’s spent so much on you, you owe me a thank you, don’t you? Buy me dinner.”

I pretended not to pick up on her sarcasm, said it was only right, and asked what she wanted to eat.

“I’ll have to think about it. I’m bringing a few friends with me, you don’t mind, right?”

I nodded.

Less than two hours later, the rumor that I was being kept by a cheapskate older man had spread through the entire girls’ dorm.

I couldn’t have cared less about the gossip—I’d be dropping out soon anyway.

I let out a sigh of relief, pulled the clothes out of the bags, picked out a few pieces to put on, and took a photo of myself in the mirror.

I sent the photo to Josiah, hesitated for a second, then added a line: [Daddy, I love all the clothes Luke bought me today. Which set do you want me to wear tomorrow?]

Josiah: [The first one.]

From that day on, I started reporting every little detail of my life to him.
