The Popular Girl Mocked My Weight, Until I Became a Total Knockout Chapter 07

Brittany stared at the screen, stunned.

The usual gossip brigade surfaced immediately.

(Oh look, Emma actually spoke up. Long time no see.]

[What’s it been, a summer? Did our little beach ball gain another ten pounds?]

forgot? She lost weight. Didn’t you see that back-shot? She’s basically a goddess now.

out of our league.]

All mockery wrapped in fake praise.

[@Kyle Peterson, didn’t you say you’d ask her out if she slimmed down? We’re holding you to it!]

Kyle shot back: [I said I’d date her if she got half as hot as Brittany Shaw! She won’t even show her face. Who knows what kind of monster she turned into.]

Reading those familiar insults, Brittany’s unease eased.

Right. Losing weight doesn’t make you beautiful. Even if she looked a bit better, she couldn’t compete with

that night.

e during the orientation assembly, a crowd of upperclassmen had already gathered

the trees.

Jenna poked Brittany’s arm. “Half of them are here for you, I bet.”

Brittany shrugged modestly, but stood a little straighter.

A beauty must always maintain perfect posture.

Then, halfway through the warm-up, a wave of commotion rolled across the field.

“Whoa! Look at that!”

“What?”

“Who’s that?”

“That face… is that even real?”

Murmurs started from the upperclassmen section, then spread to the other freshmen squads.

Faces lit up with shock, excitement, awe.

Even their orientation leader turned, and froze.

Brittany squinted toward the source. A figure in an orientation T-shirt was walking toward them.. The sun was directly behind her, so all Brittany saw was a silhouette.

But everyone around her was losing it. “That’s straight-up cheating. How is that face legal?”

Brittany’s irritation spiked. You people are way too dramatic.

The girl reached the squad next to hers. The sun shifted, and she turned her head.

Brittany’s breath caught.

Same uniform as everyone else, but simply standing there, she stole every eye in the vicinity. Everything around her seemed to fade.

For one heartbeat, something about that face felt familiar.

Someone behind her whispered, “That’s Art 2’s squad. Didn’t they have a late arrival? Maybe that’s

her?”

Brittany’s knuckles went white. Impossible. No way that’s Emma Carlson. That girl was a massive

pig.

Then the girl spoke. “Hi, I’m Emma Carlson from Art 2. Sorry I’m late.”

The crowd erupted.

Brittany’s face went green.
