His Last Cup of Warm Milk Came With Divorce Papers Chapter 15

In all the years since I had come back, they had never thrown me a homecoming party or a birthday

celebration.

But Charlotte?

She got everything she asked for.

I used to tell myself it was only human.

After more than twenty years together, even a pet would become part of the family, let alone a child.

So I swallowed it.

I made excuses for them.

But my patience and understanding only made them think I was weak.

I would be lying if I said it did not hurt.

Walking into the ballroom, my parents saw me alone and their faces fell.

Their irritation was plain in their voices.

“Where is Leo? You came by yourself?”

I swallowed the bitterness.

“Did you want to see me, or him?”

“What kind of nonsense is that?” my father snapped, his brow furrowing.

“Leo is a child of this family too. Bring him here. Your sister will look after him while you handle your business.”

My mother jumped in.

“Charlotte is family. Would she mistreat him?”

“You refuse to think of your own child, but we are his grandparents. Do you really think we would hurt him?”

“Besides, you don’t even like him, do you?”

She stopped mid-sentence.

Leo came skipping over and grabbed my hand.

“Mommy, I am back. I just went to get something.”

Footsteps sounded from the staircase.

Charlotte appeared in a sparkly gown, beaming as she waved at Leo.

“Leo, come to Auntie.”

Leo stood stiff as a board, not moving an inch.

Charlotte’s smile flickered.

“Auntie has a present for you.”

He did not even glance at her.

He only squeezed my hand and looked up.

“I want to stay with Mommy.”

[Good boy. Do not let outsiders bully your mom.]

[The fake heiress’s face is green. Here comes the fake tears act. So annoying.]

Right on cue, Charlotte turned to my mother with a wounded look.

“Does my sister hate me that much? Is that why she will not let Leo come near me?”

I cut in.

“I don’t have a sister.”

My mother’s face dropped.

“Liliana, what is that supposed to mean? You have to humiliate Charlotte on her birthday?”

I suddenly felt drained.

“I just said I don’t have a sister. Why are you getting defensive?”

My father slammed the table.

“Where are your manners? Charlotte calls you sister, and this is how you treat her?”

“She calls me sister, so I have to accept it?”

“Did she ask me if I wanted her to steal my life and stay in my home?”

Charlotte started crying, her voice all choked up.

“I know you hate me, sis… but Mom and Dad raised me for over twenty years. I could not just leav

them either.”

“If it makes you unhappy, I will move out.”

I laughed coldly.

“I am unhappy. So move.”

“Liliana, have you lost your mind?”

My father’s hand came up.

Leo shoved him away, planting his tiny frame in front of me.

“You are all bad people! Don’t you dare hurt my mom!”

[Leo is the best. I bow to you, little king.]

[What did they put in this kid’s formula? I need some.]
