My Dad’s Cheating Had a Price Tag Until It Couldn’t Keep My Mom Here Chapter 07

My Dad’s Cheating Had a Price Tag Until It Couldn’t Keep My Mom Here Chapter 07

Mom’s face showed nothing. She hung up without a word.

Those two were dead to her. Cut completely out of her life.

But the woman wouldn’t leave us alone.

The next morning, I saw the headlines on a gossip blog:

[Rich Wife’s Secret Affair!]

I clicked. There was Mom’s photo.

I had no idea who leaked it.

But the guy in the picture was my piano teacher.

That day, I’d been running a fever. The school called Dad.

He picked up for one second, then hung up without a second thought.

Mom had been frantic because I didn’t come home on time.

It was my piano teacher who got in touch with her.

She held me and cried. After that, she never let Dad handle anything about me ever again.

The photo was her thanking the teacher. Someone with an agenda snapped it and spun it into something filthy.

The comment section was a cesspool:

[Knew it. These rich wives are all trash. Makes me sick. What’s wrong with her husband that she has to go cheat?]

[I can’t with rich people. She’s got the money, the hot husband, the perfect family, and she still cheats? For what? Love? Pathetic.]

[Look at her face. You can just tell she’s trouble. Women like that don’t deserve a family. Can’t even stay loyal to her husband.]

Reading those comments, a rage I couldn’t name boiled up inside me.

These people didn’t know Mom. They read some post from God-knows-who and decided to destroy a stranger.

She found out about it. She acted fine on the surface.

But I heard her crying at night when she thought I was asleep.

She couldn’t cut him out. Not completely.

The feelings came back at night, when there was nothing left to distract her.

Dad saw the post too.

He exploded.

His ego couldn’t handle the idea that his devoted wife had been unfaithful.

He called Mom immediately, like he wanted to watch her squirm.

“Thessaly. So that’s why you pushed so hard for this divorce.”

“You had someone on the side the whole time.”

“You accuse me of cheating? Doesn’t look like you’re any prize in the loyalty department. You wanted the divorce so you could run off with that guy.”

There was this bitter edge in his voice he didn’t even seem aware of.

Like he resented her for not being hopelessly devoted to him anymore.

Mom’s response was pure calm. Like a stranger was on the other end of the line.

“This has nothing to do with you.”

“We’re divorced. Stop harassing me.”

I heard something shatter on his end.

“Thessaly, what does he have that I don’t?”

“If you come back, I’ll let this go. We can start over. Make things right.”
