A Letter from Alpha After Ten Years Chapter 05

A Letter from Alpha After Ten Years Chapter 05

People started searching for the ring again.

Liam stood motionless.

Sophie’s voice shook. “Liam, what’s wrong?”

He ignored her, pulling out his phone to text me

“Serena, where did you go?!”

“The ceremony with Sophie didn’t happen. Your ring fell off. It’s yours. And I’m yours. We’ll go, to the Elders tomorrow and rebond. Okay?”

Sophie’s tears fell. She pulled her pink diamond out of nowhere. “Liam, look-my ring just appeared. Put it on me, please?”

Liam couldn’t hear her. His hand trembled.

Serena blocked him.

He could feel the bond weakening too-he’d thought it was just from signing the severance.

He tried to mindlink her…

Nothing but silence.

She’d blocked him there too.

He turned to the pack members watching the ceremony. “Where’s Serena?”

“Didn’t notice. She headed toward the entrance a while ago.”

His brow furrowed. He texted her stubbornly.

But Serena, who always replied in seconds, had gone silent for over an hour.

He tried calling. Seventeenth time.

Every time, that cold recorded voice, “The number you have dialed is powered off.”

He dialed again. Still off. Something wasn’t right.

Like something had slipped through his fingers.

Sophie called from behind him. “What’s wrong?”

“I need to find Serena.”

“She probably went home.” Her voice was soft. “She seemed upset today. Let her have some

space.”

He sighed. “Her phone’s off. She blocked me on mindlink too.”

“That happens all the time. Dead battery. Or she just doesn’t want to talk. Or she’s throwing a

tantrum. You know how she gets-when she’s in a mood, she shuts everyone out.” Sophie spok? fast. “Find her tomorrow. Today’s our ceremony day.”

Liam lowered his head. “Sophie. I’m sorry.”

Her lashes fluttered. Tears filled her eyes.

“Liam, what are you saying?”

“I’m going to find her.”

“This is our ceremony.” Sophie’s voice changed, raw with pleading. “You promised me. You

said you’d give me a bonding ceremony.”

Liam’s lips pressed into a thin line. No answer.

Sophie’s tears fell. She clutched his arm.

“Liam, you promised me.”

“When I was fifteen, you held me waiting for the ambulance. I lost my wolf for you. You said

you’d protect me forever.”

Tears streaked down her face, smearing the makeup at her eyes.

“Tell me do you still mean what you said?”

He looked at her. Sighed. “Sophie, Serena needs me too.”

He turned and walked toward the entrance.

Her scream came from behind him, shrill and raw. “Liam! If you leave, don’t come back! You

owe me! You owe me for life!”

He didn’t look back.

Driving home, he called Serena for the twenty-third time.

Still off.

He parked downstairs and looked up.

The windows were dark.

The hand pressed against his chest suddenly clenched tighter.

When he put the key in the lock, his fingers shook.

The living room curtains were drawn. Dim.

“Serena…”

No answer.

He threw open every door, frantic. Empty.

Standing in the silent bedroom, his soul felt hollowed out.

He picked up his phone. Twenty-fourth call.

The same recording.

He leaned against the closet door and slid down to the floor.

Serena was really gone.
