My Reborn Ex Dumped Me Again. Joke’s on Him, I Married Better Chapter 06

The motorcade drove for nearly an hour before stopping in front of a private estate north of the

city.

I stepped out and took in the sight – a sprawling Georgian–style manor with ivy climbing the

stonework.

Dorian walked ahead, his pace unhurried, as though he were deliberately waiting for me.

He pushed open the main doors and stepped aside to let me enter first.

A middle–aged woman emerged from the inner hall her face warm with a smile. “This must be

Seraphina. She’s lovely.”

Dorian spoke evenly. “This is Mrs. Farrow. She’ll look after you from now on.”

Mrs. Farrow took my hands and looked me over. “Good heavens, child, how did you get so thin?

Didn’t the Vances feed you?”

I said nothing.

Mrs. Farrow didn’t seem to mind. She tugged me gently toward the inside. “Come, come, let’s get some food into you first. I’ve had soup simmering all morning.”

The hall grew quiet. Dorian moved to the table and sat down, his fingers tapping absently on the

surface.

A young man entered through a side door, sharply dressed, a tablet in hand. He stood at Dorian’s shoulder with quiet deference.

“Sir, the background on the Vance family is complete.”

“Go on.”

“Seraphina Vance was brought back from the countryside three years ago, where she had been raised by an elderly widow. The Vances claimed they were welcoming her back into the family. In reality, she was brought in to replace Celeste as your bride. When they located her, she was working at a packaging plant, earning minimum wage.”

“After they brought her back, they put her in a converted storage room. Her living conditions were barely above the house staff’s. The night of Celeste’s engagement party, Grayson Blackwood proposed the bride swap. Not a single Vance objected.”

Dorian’s fingers stopped tapping.

“Additionally,” the young man continued, “Seraphina has a severe strawberry allergy, but no one in the Vance household is aware of it. Last year she accidentally consumed a dessert containing strawberries and nearly went into anaphylactic shock. No one in the family called an ambulance.

She dialed 911 herself.”

Dorian’s expression darkened.

“What else?”

“One more thing. She was raised by an elderly widow in the countryside. The Vances only tracked her down three years ago.”

“Why did they look for her at all?”

“Because Celeste refused to marry you. They needed a substitute. Seraphina and Celeste share a

passing resemblance, and the ages matched, so…

“So they remembered they had another daughter.”

Dorian lifted his teacup, took a sip, and set it down

“Proceed with the wedding preparations,” he said. “At the highest standard.”

The young man hesitated. “Sir, you mean…”

“I said, proceed with the wedding preparations.” Dorian lifted his eyes. “When Dorian Harrington

takes a wife, she will not be made to feel small.”

The young man nodded and exited.

Dorian thought back to the first time he had seen Seraphina’s file.

The photograph showed a girl in a gray uniform, standing in front of an assembly line, her hair pulled back in a ponytail. Her face held no particular expression, but her eyes were striking.

Unlike Celeste’s pampered, practiced fragility, this girl’s eyes carried something heavy. The look of someone who had endured too much and learned to bury every emotion deep.

He couldn’t quite name what he felt.

He only knew, suddenly and with absolute certainty that the Vances had discarded this daughter.

And he would take her.
