The Godfather’s Last Regret: He Never Knew Her Chapter 05

The manager switched gears instantly. “Yes, Miss Bianchi. We’ll make everything perfect.”

I looked at the salesgirl who’d mouthed off earlier. The manager understood immediately. “You. Apologize. Now.”

The girl’s eyes were red. She walked up to me reluctantly.

“I’m sorry, Miss Bianchi. I didn’t know you had a new groom. And I didn’t know the dress belonged to you. That’s why I let Miss Vanessa try it on. Please don’t hold it against me—I’m just a worker.”

If she’d just apologized properly and owned her mistake.

But even now, she was making excuses. No accountability.

I laughed. “You seriously don’t train your people before putting them on the floor? You just let anybody try on a client’s exclusive dress? ‘Cause if that’s how you do business, I’m gonna have to rethink whether we keep working together.”

The manager’s face went white. She stammered, “I’m so sorry, Miss Bianchi. We do train everyone. Every exclusive dress and custom piece is never to be worn by a second person. She’s new, but that’s no excuse for the trouble we’ve caused you.”

“How about this—we’ll give you fifty percent off all future services, and we’ll fire her immediately.”

At the word “fire,” the girl finally panicked. Tears spilled down her cheeks.

“I’m sorry. Please don’t fire me.”

Such a pitiful act. Nothing like the arrogant attitude from before.

I didn’t want to waste time on her. “I’ve gotten the apology I wanted. Whether you fire her is your business.”

Then I left.

A judgmental salesgirl wasn’t worth my time.

Originally, being with Damon was supposed to be a marriage alliance with someone I loved.

Now that I didn’t love him anymore, it was time to maximize my gains. Choose the least dangerous man who offered the most support.

With Damon, I had to worry about his father’s dozen illegitimate sons. And protect my own family from being swallowed up.

With the other man? None of those problems.

Three days later. The wedding.

Guests who knew Nonno well came up to congratulate him.

“Look how big your granddaughter’s grown. Getting married. Wonderful news.”

“You old fox, always saying you wanted to keep her a few more years, wouldn’t introduce her to my grandson—now I see you already had someone picked out!”

I stood beside Nonno, chatting easily with the business titans.

Guests who didn’t know the situation whispered among themselves.

“Who is the Bianchi heiress marrying? I thought Damon Rossi was marrying some nobody model who just came back?”

“The Bianchi heiress can’t even compete with a disgraced model? And she’s still going through with the wedding? Does she think Damon will change his mind?”

“No way. I went to college with them. Damon never liked Sophia. Vanessa was always his true love.”

Damon showed up at the entrance in his tuxedo. He saw the giant poster of me in my wedding dress.

Vanessa, also in a wedding dress beside him, covered her mouth and laughed. “Damon, look. You already told the whole world you’re marrying me. But Sophia didn’t cancel her wedding. She even put her picture out front. Isn’t that pathetic?”
