The Day My Don Got Sick, I Took His Empire Chapter 06

The Day My Don Got Sick, I Took His Empire Chapter 06

Dante stared at the documents, his face darker than before.

“Fifty percent?” His voice was hoarse, threaded with anger. “Vivienne, do you know what you’re doing?”

“Your life is already hanging by a thread.” I looked at him. “I’m giving you a safety net.”

“Think about it.” My tone was so gentle it was almost cruel. “If this gets out, will the board keep you in that position? What will the media say? How low will the stock price go? Banks. Partners. Shareholders. Who will still trust you?”

Dante’s face grew paler.

Because he knew I was right.

The Bellandi family makes people bow because it’s strong. Stable. Clean enough on the surface.

But a Don dragged into a scandal with a lover doesn’t command respect. People just see the cracks.

“But if the shares and voting rights are transferred to me, the Bellandi family still looks stable to the outside world.” I kept my voice coaxing. “You’re still the Don. You’re just taking a temporary break. I’m your legal Donna. It makes perfect sense for me to handle the board and the media.”

Dante’s eyes went cold. “You planned this.”

I didn’t deny it. “Maybe from the day you brought Lena to the Bellandi estate.”

His breath caught. “You knew there was something wrong with her?”

I tilted my head and gave him an innocent smile. “Why do you think I left the main house to go stay with my ‘sick mother’ for a month?”

“You…” His lips trembled…Did you do it on purpose?”

I didn’t admit it. Didn’t explain.

Explanations were pointless. When he made me cover for Lena in front of the media, he never asked if I felt wronged.

I didn’t owe him answers now.

I picked up the pen and placed it in his hand.

“Sign it, and you live with dignity. You get treatment. The Bellandi family maintains the appearance of stability.”

“If you don’t sign—” I smiled. “Then I’d love to watch you fall from the top and crash into the mud.”

Dante’s knuckles went white around the pen.

He hated me. He was also afraid of me.

The IV dripped. Drop by drop.

After a long time, he lowered his head.

The moment the pen touched the paper, I thought of four years ago.

That was when I signed the marriage contract and became his Donna.

I thought it was the start of us building something together.

Four years later, he lay in a hospital bed and signed away half the Bellandi empire.

Four years ago, I signed a wedding agreement.

Four years later, he gave me half of the Bellandi empire. He signed his own bondage contract.

When the last signature fell, Dante collapsed against the pillow.

I put the documents away. Made sure every page was signed. Then slipped them into my bag.

“Get some rest,” I said. “I’ll keep things under control at the company and with the family.”

Dante looked up at me. In those eyes that had once melted my heart countless times, I now saw a mixture of fear, dependence, resentment, and a little too-late regret.

“Vivienne.”

I stopped.

He whispered, “You’ll always be on my side, won’t you?”

I turned back and gave him a tender smile.

“As long as you do what I say.”

“Of course I will.”
