This Time, I Refuse to Be His Luna Chapter 07

This Time, I Refuse to Be His Luna Chapter 07

Early the next morning, I was clearing weeds in the yard.

Then I heard the sharp screech of brakes at the gate.

A black car stopped outside the fence, its body scraped all over by stones from the mountain road.

Ethan got out.

His hair was messy. There were dark circles under his eyes. Cedar scent leaked uncontrollably from him, and his Alpha dominance made my chest tighten.

“Olivia.”

Ethan strode toward me and grabbed my wrist.

His palm was hot.

It was the heat of a werewolf whose emotions and fever had both spiraled out of control.

“Where did you go? Do you have any idea how scared I was?”

I looked down at his hand.

“Let go.”

Ethan did not release me. His voice shook with panic.

“Why didn’t you answer my calls? Why didn’t you reply to my messages? Why did you leave?”

I looked up at him.

—

“Do you really not know why?”

He let go of me and took the black velvet box from his pocket.

The moonstone necklace was still inside.

His hands were shaking badly.

“Sophia and I are completely over. I got rid of the bed, blankets, and clothes she touched. I also had the whole estate cleansed again. The peach blossom scent is completely gone. Come back with me and take a look, okay?”

I did not take the box.

“Ethan, I don’t like it anymore. Loving you is too exhausting. I don’t want to love you anymore. Do you understand?”

His throat moved.

“No.”

His eyes reddened.

He grabbed my shoulders with enough force to make me frown in pain.

“How can you just stop loving me? Olivia, look at me. Tell me you still love me.”

He finally lowered his head and tried to move close to my neck.

In the past, as long as he did this, I would soften.

I would forget all his coldness and forgive every wound.

—

This time, I pried his hands away.

“Now you’re willing to beg? When you threatened to send me back to the center, did you ever think this day would come?”

Ethan froze completely.

He took half a step back.

I continued, “Ethan, we are truly over.”

“No.”

His voice suddenly rose.

“As long as I still love you, it isn’t over.”

I turned and went into the cabin, shutting the door behind me.

The door was old.

If Ethan wanted, he could shift into wolf form and break it open.

But he did not.

He only stood in the yard and kept staring at the window.

Rain started falling again.

He did not leave.

He did not force his way in either.

He stood outside the porch from day until night.

Rain ran down his hair and suit.

—

In the past, I would have rushed out, pulled him inside, dried his hair, and forgiven him at once because my heart hurt too badly.

Now, I stood behind the window and watched for a while.

Then I picked up my phone and called the old healer in town.

The wind grew colder at night.

Ethan finally could not hold on.

He grabbed the doorframe and dropped to his knees.

I opened the door.

“Come in.”

He looked up, and light flashed in his eyes.

“Olivia, I knew you…”

I interrupted him.

“Don’t get the wrong idea. I don’t want an Alpha dying at my door and causing me trouble.”

The hope in his eyes faded, but he still followed me inside.

After two steps, he collapsed.

I did not change his clothes.

I did not go near his neck.

I threw an old blanket over him and waited for the healer to arrive.

After examining him, the old healer shook his head.

—

“This is in his head.”

When Ethan woke, dawn was almost here.

The moment he opened his eyes, he looked for me.

“Olivia.”

I was sitting in the chair farthest from the bed.

“If you’re awake, rest. When you’re better, leave.”

He struggled to sit up and tried to pull my hand.

I avoided him.

His hand fell into empty air, then slowly dropped.

“I was wrong. I shouldn’t have sent you there. I shouldn’t have stayed away for a year without seeing you. I shouldn’t have let them humiliate you. I saw your diary. Your birthday, I didn’t even know.”

By the end, his voice had choked.
