This Time, I Refuse to Be His Luna Chapter 04

Ethan came back soon.

He also brought Logan, Mason, and Caleb with him.

They went into the study to discuss Pack business, but the door was not fully closed.

I sat on the living room sofa and read a book.

I heard every word clearly.

Logan spoke first.

“Alpha, how are things with her?”

Ethan answered, “Fine.”

Mason said, “She looks much more stable than before. When we came in just now, her eyes didn’t even change. I thought she would half-shift and lose control again.”

Caleb said, “But Sophia has been showing off too much lately, hasn’t she? Today, at that private charity auction, she won the moon-diamond necklace from the old Blackthorn vault. Seven million dollars. She also went around saying you gave it to her.”

“If she likes it, that’s fine,” Ethan said.

Logan warned him, “Aren’t you afraid Olivia will smell it? You finally got her out of the center. Don’t set her off again.”

Ethan said, “She can’t leave me.”

He sounded so certain, as if it did not need to be proven.

I sat in the living room and heard everything in the study.

But I had no reaction.

Because I had already been trained not to lose control because of Ethan.

Not long after, the three men came out of the study.

Logan stopped in front of me and looked me up and down.

“You look much better. But your scent is still completely flat. Need us to help you feel something again?”

Mason leaned to the side with a lazy smile.

“She’s easier to look at like this. At least she doesn’t cry and throw herself at people, trying to tear them apart.”

Caleb’s gaze landed on the side of my neck. He looked me over like he was appraising an object.

“She only looks a little like a werewolf when she’s going crazy. When she’s normal, I can’t smell a trace of wolf on her at all.”

Ethan walked out last and punched each of them, his displeasure clear.

“Enough.”

The three men immediately shut up.

Ethan looked at me.

“There’s a banquet tonight. You’re coming with me. You’re my fiancee and the future Luna.”

I asked, “What time does it end?”

Ethan frowned.

“Why? It ends at ten.”

My flight was at eleven.

“Okay.”

The banquet was held in the main hall of the Blackthorn territory.

Ethan took me through the crowd and introduced me to several elders and business allies.

Actually, there was no need to introduce me.

Every werewolf circle in the Pacific Northwest remembered me.

They remembered that I had lost control in a half-shift.

They remembered that I had gone to Ethan’s three brothers.

They remembered that Ethan had personally sent me to the center.

They smiled respectfully at Ethan.

But when they looked at me, there was scrutiny and contempt in their eyes.

I stood beside Ethan with a glass of wine and remembered every single gaze.

My silence did not mean I had forgotten.

Then Sophia Bennett walked over.
