Barren, Betrayed, But Backed By A Secret Billionaire Dad: I’ll Make Them Pay In Blood Chapter 06

Thinking of this, Megan screamed hysterically,

“Adwan, do you even realize what you’re doing? It was just a prank, and you hit me?”

Adwan’s lips trembled with fury.

“A prank?”

“Do you even know the consequences of this so-called prank? Jelena is divorcing me because of you!”

He had expected Megan to be shocked. Instead, she laughed.

“I know.”

“I was there when you two made that agreement, remember? Like her, I kept count of every single prank.”

“This one just happened to be the hundredth.”

Megan had known from the very beginning.

Adwan stared at her in disbelief, as though betrayed to his core.

“Megan, if you knew, why would you still do it?”

The woman showed not the slightest hint of fear, only indifference.

“So what if it’s divorce? What’s the big deal? It’s not like you love her anyway.”

Her words left Adwan stunned.

—

Why would Megan say that?

He did love Jelena—deeply. Just hearing she wanted a divorce had sent him into a panic.

The next second, Megan smirked and gave her answer.

“Why pretend to be so devoted now? I made Jelena so miserable that she lost her baby at eight months, and you didn’t even blame me.”

“You knew better than anyone, and as a woman I knew it too—by now, Jelena must have long since given up on you.”

As she spoke, her lips curled in triumph.

Adwan trembled from head to toe, an indescribable pain clawing at his chest.

All these years, he had hidden behind that agreement, growing more and more reckless, pushing Jelena’s limits again and again.

He had come to assume she would never get angry, never throw a tantrum, never resent him for protecting Megan.

But that didn’t mean he hadn’t loved her.

Clenching his teeth, Adwan glared at Megan.

“If I don’t love her, then who else could I possibly love? You’re utterly delusional.”

Megan lifted her chin proudly.

“You liar. You’ve always loved me, stop fooling yourself.”

“Besides, Jelena has already decided to divorce you, hasn’t she?”

—

It was only then that Adwan seemed to realize the truth. He shot her a furious glare before storming out of the hospital without a backward glance.

On the way, he stopped at a pastry shop to buy Jelena’s favorite sweets.

The shopkeeper greeted him warmly, “Mr. Jones, it’s been such a long time since you’ve come here. I thought your wife didn’t like our pastries anymore.”

Adwan’s hand froze mid-motion.

Thinking back, it really had been a long time since he last bought pastries for Jelena.

Not because he had forgotten, but because she had stopped getting upset recently, so he had felt no need to coax her.

Yes… why hadn’t Jelena lost her temper, why hadn’t she pouted with him anymore?

After paying, Adwan drove home in a panic.

“Jelena, about that agreement—treat it like a joke, don’t take it seriously, please?”

“I just found out it was Megan who framed you. I misunderstood you, I’m sorry.”

“I bought your favorite pastries, don’t be mad anymore, alright?”

But the villa was eerily quiet, with no sign of Jelena’s response.

Only the housekeeper hurried out to meet him.

—

“Mr. Jones, madam just packed her bags and left. She isn’t home…”

Crash!

The box of pastries slipped from his hands and scattered all over the floor.

He rushed forward, his voice trembling.

“When did she leave? Where did she go?”

The housekeeper shook her head nervously.

“I asked, but madam didn’t say.”
