I Was His Secret Genius, Now I’m His Biggest Regret Chapter 14

At dusk, Beau and Daisy rushed into the main house like two small tornadoes.

“Savannah! We’re back!”

They had just returned from the riding club, their faces flushed from the exercise. Daisy clutched a broad blue championship ribbon.

“Savannah, look!” she said, holding up the ribbon, her eyes full of hope. “We won! The coach said I’m the most talented!”

Beau followed behind her, equally proud. “There’s a party at the stables. Can you come?”

They rushed into the master bedroom, but their voices stopped at the doorway.

Savannah stood before a floor-length mirror in a new ivory couture gown. The sheen of the silk made her look like a cold, beautiful statue. She didn’t turn around. She only glanced at them in the mirror, and her brow furrowed.

“Stop,” she said, her voice devoid of warmth.

Daisy’s smile froze.

“Don’t step on my rug.” Savannah’s gaze fell on Daisy’s dusty riding boots as if they were something filthy. “You both smell like a stable. It’s disgusting.”

“But…” Beau tried to explain.

“Go wash up before you come out,” Savannah interrupted impatiently. “Don’t bring that cheap sweat smell into my room.”

Daisy’s face crumpled. She didn’t understand why Savannah was being so mean. She took another step forward, holding out the ribbon. “Savannah, just look,” she whispered. “Just once…”

“I told you not to touch me!”

Savannah swung her hand sharply, as if swatting away a bug.

She used more force than she intended. Daisy’s hand was knocked aside, and the blue ribbon she treasured flew from her grasp, landing on the pure white rug.

Daisy’s eyes reddened. Sobbing, she bent to pick it up.

Just as her fingertips were about to touch the ribbon, a crystal-studded stiletto heel came down on it with merciless precision.

“Tsk.” Savannah turned. Her heel ground the gold lettering on the ribbon into the rug. “Crying over a cheap ribbon. How utterly low-class.”

Daisy stared at the ruined ribbon, stunned, even forgetting to cry. The blue fabric was ground into the rug, stained with dirt, like a crushed heart.

“Why did you do that?” Beau finally reacted. He rushed forward, shielding his dazed sister behind him. “You did that on purpose!” he shouted, his voice cracking.
