He Slept With Her In My House I Made It His Worst Mistake Chapter 02

Chloe left.

Before she walked out, she tried to say something. “Ms. Rhodes, I really…”

I didn’t let her finish. “Elevator’s to the right.”

She left.

She didn’t take her shoes.

I closed the door and looked at Bradley.

He sat on the couch, hands clasped, head lowered. “Just hear me out.”

“I don’t want to.”

He rushed to explain. “She’s just a coworker. Her place is under renovation…”

“Bradley.”

He looked up.

“Who changed the passcode?”

“I did. It’s just…”

I let out a cold laugh. “Changed it to what?”

Silence.

I laughed again, sharper this time. “I’m asking you. What did you change the passcode of my apartment to?”

Still nothing.

I pulled out my phone and opened the property management app. I checked the passcode history.

Modified three weeks ago.

New code: 0908.

Chloe’s birthday. September 8.

I turned the screen toward him. “You changed the passcode of the apartment I paid for in full to her birthday.”

He was still trying to defend himself. “It’s not what you think…”

I stared at him. “Are you done?”

He wasn’t.

But he shut up.

I walked to the door and opened the lock settings. I entered the admin code. He didn’t know this one. I set it when I first installed the lock and never told him.

Reset.

New code.

Six digits.

I finished and looked at him coldly. “From now on, I’m the only one who knows the code to this door.”

He snapped, frustrated. “You…”

“This is my apartment. Your name is not on the deed. Nine hundred sixty thousand, paid in full. There is no shared mortgage.” I picked up the pink mug and the size 6 sneakers and set them by the door. “Take these with you. Or throw them out. They don’t belong in my place.”

He stood up. “Vivian Rhodes, aren’t you going too far? This is our home…”

“Our home?” I looked at him. “In our home, you bring another woman here, change the passcode to her birthday, buy mugs in her color, keep her shoes in the cabinet… and you call this our home?”

His mouth opened.

Nothing came out.

I picked up my bag and walked out.

Before closing the door, I said one more thing.

“Oh, and the old code? 0908. Chloe’s birthday. You really think I’d forget something like that?”

I shut the door.

On the way back, I checked the lock records.

The app tracked every entry.

For the past four months, the door had been opened three to four times a week. Mostly between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays.

Weekdays.

While I was at work.

While he told me he was out meeting clients.

My apartment.

Opened three times a week.

The passcode had been changed three weeks ago. But the access records had been abnormal for four months.

Four months.

Not once.

Not occasionally.

Four months. Three to four times every week.

I placed my phone face down on my lap.

The driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror. “We’re here.”

“Okay.” I paid and got out.

Standing by the roadside, I did one more thing.

I opened my banking app and checked the transaction history of the joint account I had access to.

Past four months.

Dining charges: 47 transactions. Thirty-two of them at restaurants near Lakeside Vista.

Hotel charges: 6. All within St. Valerion.

Florist purchases: 4.

I never received a single bouquet.

I took screenshots of everything and saved them into a new folder.

Folder name:

[Evidence.]
