Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 10

Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 10

“Don’t write my name on the invitation yet. I want to see Luca’s face at the wedding first.”

Enzo’s smile deepened.

He held out his hand to me.

“You really are the woman I saved. You don’t waste time.”

“Pleasure doing business with you.”

I lightly shook his hand.

On the day of the wedding, the event hall was even more lavish than I had imagined.

Enzo had invited every major figure from the East and West Coast families.

Many of them were powerful people Luca had worked desperately to get close to.

After I put on the wedding gown, I stared at myself in the mirror for a long time, unable to look away.

“It’s not too late to change your mind.”

Enzo walked up behind me, arms folded across his chest.

“You look beautiful.”

“Luca is already here. Are you sure about this?”

I turned around and took his arm.

“I chose to marry you. It has nothing to do with Luca.”

“He doesn’t matter that much to me anymore.”

A flash of surprise crossed Enzo’s face.

He quickly smoothed his expression and curved his lips into a smile.

During the ceremony, I did not even feel the urge to glance at the audience below.

After everything proceeded smoothly, Enzo and I made our rounds through the reception, greeting the guests with champagne.

When we reached the Vitale family’s table, Luca looked like a man who had lost his soul.

He stared at me without blinking, his eyes so red they looked almost ready to bleed.

But with elders and business partners all around us, he did not dare lose control.

I did not even look at him. I only smiled and drained the champagne in my hand.

After the reception ended, Enzo went to exchange pleasantries with the other guests.

I changed out of my gown and rested with my eyes closed in the bridal suite.

Suddenly, the door opened, and a figure stumbled in.

“Isabella!”

Luca staggered toward me.

“Isabella, it’s really you!”

“Why? Where did you go after that day at the hospital?”

He could no longer hold back, and tears fell from his eyes.

“I couldn’t find you anywhere. I even thought you were dead, but the police said no unidentified body had been found.”

“Do you have any idea how I survived all this time?”

I took a step back.

“No. And I don’t want to.”

Luca stared at me, then suddenly dropped straight to his knees.

“Isabella, I’m so glad you’re all right.”

“I even thought about dying before, but then I thought of how you were still missing, and I didn’t dare.”

“I never imagined you would marry my uncle.”

Luca looked at me as if he wanted to carve me into his memory forever.

“You’re doing this to get revenge on me, aren’t you? Because I always let Gianna take your things.”

“I know I was wrong now, Isabella. Today, I finally understand how you felt. I deserve to suffer for it.”

“I swear, I never had any romantic feelings for Gianna.”

He moved closer on his knees, his words painfully earnest.

“I did all of that because she grew up with me. Our families used to be on the same level, and the elders would joke that we were practically promised to each other.”

“But after my family went bankrupt, she avoided me like the plague. It cut me deeply.”

“I carried that resentment for years. I wanted to prove myself and win back my dignity. I always knew she was vain.”

“So after I clawed my way back to the top, seeing her cling to me, envy you for being my wife, and constantly try to take your things gave me a sick sense of satisfaction. It felt like revenge.”

“I just never thought it would hurt you this badly.”

Tears streamed down Luca’s face.

“Isabella, I’m sorry. Please give me one more chance.”

“I’ve already gotten revenge on Gianna for you. Her family has been in financial trouble for years, and they only barely stayed afloat because of me. Recently, I pulled all my funding. Her family went bankrupt, and they ended up even worse off than I once was.”

“Our son can’t be without you either. These days, he keeps waking up crying in the middle of the night, asking for his mom. He hasn’t been doing well, and I can’t take care of him properly. The family sent him to boarding school.”

I cut him off.

“Luca, have you ever thought about what would have happened if your uncle hadn’t saved me?”

“I would really be dead.”

Luca froze there, his mouth slightly open.

“But… but…”

“There is no but.”

I looked straight at him.

“Luca, I’ve already died once.”

“In my last life, you gave my mother’s burial plot to Gianna. After I divorced you, you made sure I walked away with nothing. When my acute cardiomyopathy flared up, I didn’t have a penny to my name, and I died in a hospital hallway.”

“I was given a second chance at life. It wasn’t so I could get back together with you.”

Luca stiffened as if he had been struck by lightning, disbelief freezing him in place.

I did not want to say another word to him.

I walked around him and left without looking back.

After finally being granted a new life, every minute I had from now on would belong to people who were worth it.
