Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 01

Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 01

That woman was always taking what belonged to me, and my husband, the Don, always let her get away with it.

All because she was Gianna Ricci, my husband’s childhood sweetheart.

After I was reborn, I realized I could fight her until the day I died and still never win. So I simply put a price tag on every personal thing I owned.

She always claimed she got carsick, so every time we went anywhere, she insisted on sitting in the front passenger seat of my husband Luca Vitale’s car.

I taped a Venmo QR code in front of the passenger seat and wrote, [One hundred thousand dollars a year. Twenty percent off for renewals.]

Then she set her sights on my proposal for control of the East Coast ports. The moment Luca knocked on my office door, I said without even looking up, “Five hundred thousand. Once the money hits my account, I’ll put her name on it.”

On my son’s birthday, I pushed aside my work and rushed to his private preschool to pick him up.

But he looked up at his teacher and said, “She’s not my mommy. I’m not going with her.”

While we were stuck in a standoff, Gianna finally arrived, holding the gift I had prepared for my son.

My son immediately ran over and wrapped his arms around her leg. “Look! She’s my mommy.”

Luca was about to explain.

I reached out to my son without a trace of emotion. “Five million, and I’ll sign over my parental rights today so she can adopt you.”

Luca stared at me in disbelief. “Isabella Colombo, you’re taking it out on your own son now?”

“He’s only four. Enough is enough.”

A flicker of shock crossed my son’s face when he heard me.

Then his little face turned bright red, and he clung even harder to Gianna Ricci’s leg.

“Fine! Five million is five million! I don’t want a mean mommy like you anyway!”

So in his eyes, I was that awful. I was the mother who woke up two hours early every day to make him a healthy breakfast, the mother who gave up her chance to speak at the family council just to make more time for him, and he still hated me this much.

Gianna jumped in, playing the sweet peacemaker. “Matteo, I told you not to be rude.”

My son pouted in frustration. “She’s rude too. Two days ago, when Dad was with you, she kept calling and bothering him!”

“You also told me that when someone is mean, you hit back!”

Luca’s expression changed at once. “Matteo, your mom is not mean. I’ve told you before, you never hurt your family with your words.”

Then he turned back to explain himself to me. “Bella, that day, it was because Gianna…”

I raised a hand and cut him off. “You used our wedding anniversary to keep her company. That costs money too.”

Luca froze there, looking at me as if he suddenly no longer recognized me.

After a long moment, he pulled a black AmEx from his wallet and threw it straight onto the ground.

“Isabella, even your own son hates you. Maybe you should start asking yourself why.”

He put his arm around Gianna and got into the car, leaving exhaust fumes blowing straight into my face.

I only crouched down in silence and picked up the card from the ground.

The sharp corners dug into my palm, and the pain only strengthened my resolve.

In my last life, whenever Luca let Gianna take what belonged to me, I cried and screamed.

Not only did I fail to win his love, but he even gave my mother’s burial plot to Gianna just so she could bury her pet dog there.

In a fit of rage, I slapped Gianna across the face and demanded a divorce from Luca.

I thought that would make him realize he had gone too far.

Instead, to put me in my place, he agreed without hesitation.

He even hired a top divorce attorney, used a loophole in our prenup, and forced me to sign away every asset I had.

A few days after the divorce, I developed acute cardiomyopathy.

I did not even have enough money left to call an ambulance, so I dragged myself to the hospital.

Faced with the staggering medical bills, I had no fight left in me. I called Luca over and over again.
