Walking Out On My Husband Chapter 09

Walking Out On My Husband Chapter 09

I glanced at my watch. Sighed.

“I’m gonna be late. Don’t you have work?”

Julian blinked. Let go of my hand.

He didn’t answer. Just said, quietly:

“I’ll wait out here. Let’s grab lunch together.”

“Sure.”

So he waited. Four more hours.

Sitting across from me at the restaurant, he studied me.

His tone landed somewhere between mocking and sincere.

“You look good.”

I nodded.

“Yeah.”

At least there were no more fights.

And I was sleeping through the night.

Six months ago, I couldn’t have imagined living like this.

“When are you coming home?”

I frowned. What was he talking about?

Before I could respond, he said:

“Susan’s not coming back. I found her a place these past few days. Lily’s settled too.”

So that’s what it was. He wouldn’t have come to find me until they were sorted.

But he could’ve handled all of that months ago. Instead, he just watched me suffer.

When I didn’t answer, Julian took it as a yes.

He smiled. Eyes tired. A little wounded.

He reached across the table and grabbed my hand.

“What’s gotten into you lately? Throwing tantrums, running away from home. What do you want from me?”

“I want a divorce.”

Pain shot through my palm. His nails dug in.

His eyes widened.

“Why?”

“Because I can’t do this anymore.”

He seemed to know what I meant. Started scrambling.

“There’s nothing going on between me and Lily. She’s like a sister to me.”

“The reason I took such good care of Susan is…”

His face twisted with something between shame and struggle.

“Because I never had a mom. My dad didn’t give a damn. Susan was the one who used to bring me food.”

“She practically treated me like a son.”

“She always wanted me to marry Lily. But then I met you…”

“So I’ve always felt guilty.”

He gripped my hand tighter, desperate.

“Believe me. There’s nothing between me and Lily.”

I pulled my hand back. My expression hadn’t changed once.

“It doesn’t matter anymore.”

“It does!”

“Then tell me. What exactly is your problem?”

The second he finished, his phone rang.

Lily’s ringtone.
