I’m Not A Substitute, I’m His Aunt Chapter 06

I’m Not A Substitute, I’m His Aunt Chapter 06

I turned to Alfred with a mocking smile.

“Can we check the surveillance footage now, Alfred?”

Alfred struggled to pull up the surveillance footage on the screen, sweating profusely.

It was pitch black, with no footage.

Under Andrew’s deadly gaze, Alfred explained weakly, “I think the employee responsible for the monitoring system accidentally turned off the power. There’s no footage from the last few hours.”

My sister scoffed and turned her head aside while her husband pointed a finger accusingly at Alfred.

“What nonsense is this?! Who would believe such a pathetic excuse? I’m the one who pays your salary, Andrew, not Elaine Geston!”

He sighed in disappointment, then said to Alfred, “You’re fired.”

Alfred immediately dropped to his knees, crying and begging.

“Sir, I know I made a mistake! I’m sorry! I have debts to pay, I can’t lose my job!”

He crawled to my feet, wailing, “Miss Betty, I’m sorry, you can punish me…”

I ignored him, only instructing someone to drag him away.

I never forgive those who only regret their misdeeds after they’re caught.

Alfred was dismissed, while Elaine and Sandra heaved a sigh of relief.

Sandra stepped forward with a smile.

“Since the punishment has been dealt, let’s leave it at that. If this becomes a big deal, it’ll be an embarrassment for both families. We can’t possibly question all the guests. That would be so impolite.”

That was a thinlyveiled threat, and my sister and brother-in-law instantly looked unhappy.

Just as Andrew was about to fly into a rage, I smiled and pointed at the real substitute, Wendy, who was silently standing in the corner.

“Who said there’s only one surveillance camera? I think the lady over there has a hidden camera. Am I right?”

Under everyone’s surprised gaze, Wendy stepped forward and removed a tiny camera flashing red from her collar.

“This camera has been recording since I came in. It captured everything that happened.”

The comments were shocked:

[No way! What a turnaround! Did the aunt notice the real substitute from the beginning?]

[Not only did she notice the substitute, she also saw the hidden camera! She’s so perceptive!]

Elaine swayed unsteadily, barely able to stand. Her fingers dug into the table to steady herself.

Wendy tapped the keyboard a few times to project the recording onto the wedding ceremony’s big screen.

The footage showed that throughout the entire affair, my hands never touched the glasses containing the poisoned wine. I did not do the poisoning.

Also, the so-called evidence of poisoning had always been in Sandra’s hands. I was clearly innocent. The footage clearly showed how Elaine, Alfred, and Sandra framed and assaulted me.

My brother-in-law, Andrew, smashed a glass in anger.

Nolan knelt down, trembling, but his father kicked him away.

“You stupid brat! Why would you marry a woman like her?! She’s pure evil!”

Alfred dropped to the floor in fear, tears streaming down his face. He pleaded, “Sir, Ma’am, I know nothing about this. I was just following Elain’s orders! She’ll be Master Nolan’s wife soon, so I couldn’t disobey her orders! I’ve already lost my job, please don’t send me to prison!”

Sandra yelled at him, “You’re the one who came up with this terrible idea to please my daughter! You’re the real mastermind! Now that the truth is exposed, you’re trying to shift the blame onto my daughter instead?!”

I held a glass of water, watching their fight with interest.

Elaine, still fairly calm, crawled to my feet, pleading, “Aunt Betty, I’ve made a mistake! I got the wrong person… The drug’s actually not poisonous. I just wanted to scare her. I’ll never do it again, I swear!”

Nolan glanced at Elaine hesitantly before pleading with me, “Aunt Betty, I know Elaine made a grave mistake, but you’re not hurt, right? Can’t we just drop this?”

As soon as he said that, my sister, angered by his stupidity, slapped him again.

She threw the toxicology report, which the family doctor had rushed to produce, at Nolan.

“Your aunt’s not hurt only because she’s lucky! Take a good look! It’s a poison that can kill! Your aunt almost died at your wedding!”
