Austin snorted softly. “He’s so fake. I don’t think he’s that strong. He’s just trying to steal the attention away from me. It doesn’t matter if he’s causing a scene. I’m the one you’re marrying! I’m the groom!”

William teared up. He had been staring at me in silence ever since he got pulled away.

I bet he was extremely relieved.

I had stopped forcing him to marry me.

My father then announced that he would pass his role in North Town to Austin.

“Mr. Anderson…” William was in disbelief.

“How could you pass North Town to Austin? He’s a man of violence, and he won’t be able to lead.”

“He can learn if he doesn’t know how to. I’m not dead yet, so I can still teach him for a few years,” my father said indifferently.

“You’re indeed more qualified than he is, but only my daughter’s husband can be the successor. You’re not willing to marry Jade, so of course you’ve lost the chance to take over.”

William was stunned, and he could no longer say another word.

Thanks to me, my father treated him better than Austin when he was growing up. William had received a lot of resources, so he thought that he would inherit North Town, just like how he did in the past.

However, he did not expect that the successor would have to be related to me. He did not seem all that upset, though. Maybe losing the position was better than marrying me.

After our wedding concluded, Austin could not wait to return home with me. However, William anxiously stopped us.

“Where’s Mandy? Aren’t you planning to let Mandy go?”

“I didn’t kidnap her. I never lie. If I say I didn’t do it, I mean it.

“Stop being a nuisance. Can you stop interrupting our night?”

Austin pushed him away in frustration.

William tripped, and his mood turned worse.

He suddenly said, “Jade, you don’t like Austin. You’re only marrying him because you’re angry at me, right?”

I turned around to look at him and sneered. “Why would I sacrifice the rest of my life to do that? Who do you think you are?”

“That’s right. Of course my wife loves me.

“She says that I have a better build than you and that I’m more handsome. She’s terribly in love with me.”

Austin kissed me smugly, and I returned it. By the time we came back to our senses, William had disappeared.

The next day, my father told us that William was begging at his door for him to save Mandy.

My father was furious at home, and he wanted to punish him. Unexpectedly, Mandy returned on her own.

She was covered in bruises.

“William, someone took advantage of me. The person said that Jade asked him to do it.

“Jade couldn’t stand me, so she hired someone to destroy me. That way, you’d give up on me out of disgust.”

Without another word, William asked me to go over. When he saw the hickeys on my neck, he was distracted.

“William!”

Mandy was anxious as she sobbed. “I know I don’t deserve you, and I wish you and Jade well. But I’ve really lost the will to live.”

She ran toward a pillar, but William stopped her in time.

Right then, he finally returned to his senses and stared at me with clenched fists.

“Don’t you want to explain yourself? Are you still denying that you only married Austin out of anger?

“This is such a serious matter, Mandy wouldn’t simply accuse you of it. Jade, you’re not as calm as you appear to be.”

I was unsure if I had misunderstood, but I could sense some arrogance in his words.

“There’s no evidence.”

I took a sip of tea and smiled indifferently.

“This is very serious. We grew up together and you’re considered my elder brother, and your lover just got taken advantage of. Of course I can’t ignore it.”

“Brother?” He was stunned. He attempted to smile, but it was bitter.

“You really treat me as an elder brother?”

I got Adam to search every part of the city, and he finally found the man whom Mandy claimed had ruined her.

Suddenly, Mandy got nervous and grabbed William’s sleeve with a pale face.
