Reborn to Clear My Name Chapter 06

I could barely stand.

After the adrenaline faded, the pain from Gianni’s sneak attack and Isabelle’s kicks came rushing back.

The only reason I was still on my feet was because I refused to let them pin this on me.

Before Gianni or I could speak, Isabelle, who hadn’t gotten a word in on the roof, jumped in.

“Chief, I want to file a report.”

“Maelle Quinn made an operational error, exposed the sniper position, and almost ruined the entire rescue.”

“Afterward, she threatened me and tried to keep me quiet. She locked me on the roof and tried to kill me.”

“And she kept deliberately provoking the kidnapper.”

“I suspect she never intended to complete the mission properly from the start.”

I didn’t rush to defend myself. I just turned and stared at Gianni.

He gave me a cold look.

“Chief, the situation is exactly as Isabelle described,” he said.

“This operation escalated into a high-risk situation because of Maelle’s mistake.”

The chief knew me. We’d worked together many times. He frowned and looked at me.

“Maelle, you’ve always been steady. You wouldn’t make a basic mistake like that.”

“Explain what happened.”

I swallowed the blood in my mouth. My voice came out hoarse.

“Isabelle kept provoking the kidnapper and disrupting the rhythm of the rescue.”

“Then, she deliberately crashed my sniper position and exposed it.”

“Finally, she covered my scope with her hand, preventing me from taking the shot.”

“I have evidence.”

“My body cam, the recordings from every channel, and the footage from my scope can all prove it.”
