Chloe, no longer pretending to be drunk, stood in the dim light of her apartment, a single lamp casting long shadows.

“Impossible. She’s just angry. Adriana wouldn’t actually leave.”

“I just need to go home. If I go home, she’ll be there.”

With that, he grabbed his shoes and bolted from the apartment.
