The CEO Confessed In Delivery Room While I Bled Out Chapter 09

He didn’t think I’d actually file.

Even now, he didn’t believe I was really gone.

He closed his eyes and filled his head with me. He thought about Foster’s Landing and laughed to himself.

He thought I would still end up unable to let go. That I still loved him. That I would take our daughter and wait for him there.

He touched his chest and whispered. “Just wait a little longer, baby. The ultrasound said it’s a boy. Once Vanessa has him, I’ll give them some money and send them overseas.”

“My son will be your son. We’ll be a family again. The four of us. I’ll never betray you again.”

“I know you might not forgive me right away. But that’s okay. I’ll spend the rest of my apologizing. I’ll win you back slowly.”

He was almost asleep when laughter exploded from the living room.

life

“Dad, Elena is so pathetic. Did you read her text? She actually thinks we care. We only kissed her

ass because of Caleb’s money. Let her leave. Who gives a damn?”

His heart stopped. A cold feeling crawled up his spine.

He ran out of the room. “What are you talking about?”

Vanessa held up her phone with a smirk. “Elena’s text. She said…”

He saw the words. [I’m leaving.]

His chest went tight. He couldn’t breathe.

I’m leaving?

Where would I go?

He grabbed his keys and slammed out the door.

Vanessa screamed after him. He didn’t turn around

He drove to Foster’s Landing like a man possessed

What was left was nothing but ruins.

A worker told him the house had already been demolished on the day I took ownership. The land

had been listed for sale.

His legs gave out beneath him. He nearly collapsed on the spot.

Caleb panicked completely. He called my number over and over again, only to hear the cold message that it was no longer in service.

Then he understood. Foster’s Landing had never been about reluctance or sentiment. It was a

clean break, my way of cutting off the last thread between us.

And everything I had said before had been nothing but a lie to calm him down.

I truly hated him. And I was truly done with him.

He stumbled forward and fell. Glass cut into his palms. Blood ran down his fingers.

It was nothing compared to the pain in his chest.

He curled up on the ground and sobbed into the dirt.

“Elena, you liar.”

“I was wrong. Come back. Please come back.”
