The CEO Confessed In Delivery Room While I Bled Out Chapter 02

When I opened my eyes again, Caleb was asleep in the chair beside me.

He woke immediately and grabbed my hand. “Elena, you’re awake. How do you feel?”

I pulled away. My voice came out hoarse and rough. “Where’s the baby?”

He wet my lips with water, soft and gentle. “She’s in the NICU. A girl. We have a daughter, Elena. Isn’t that something?”

My throat burned.

Something?

It should have meant everything.

It was supposed to be the best day of my life. Husband by my side. Baby in my arms.

But now it had all turned to ash.

I opened my mouth to speak, and then the door opened.

Vanessa walked in.

“Hey, Elena, you’re up. I brought you fruit. Caleb can cut it for you.”

She was wearing a low-cut dress. Her neck was covered in fresh marks.

She wanted me to see them.

I lost it.

I grabbed everything I could reach and threw it at them. Screamed until my throat shredded. “Get out! Both of you! You’re disgusting, Vanessa. Your own sister’s husband?”

“Elena, stop!”

Caleb’s face went dark. He grabbed my wrists, shoved me back, and pulled Vanessa against his chest.

I was already weak from blood loss. The shove sent me off the bed. My back hit the floor. My IV tore out. Blood spilled across the floor.

Waves of dizziness hit me. I looked up at Caleb shielding Vanessa, and something inside me went cold and lifeless.

Caleb looked down at me, his face complicated. “Elena, she’s your sister. Don’t forget everything she did for you during your pregnancy.”

“You wanted pancakes at two in the morning? She got up and made them. Your legs swelled up? She learned that massage technique just to help you.”

“If you’re angry at someone, be angry at me. Leave her alone.”

The way he stood in front of her, like I was the threat.

I started laughing.

Vanessa had hated me for as long as I could remember, ever since I was born.

She said I stole their attention, accused me of lying, of stealing, of bullying other kids… and my parents believed every word.

To them, I was broken from the start.

Then I met Caleb.

He was furious when I told him. “How are they even related to you?”

He held me so tight. “I’ll protect you, Elena. You’ll never hurt again.”

He was the first person who ever loved me. Who stood up for me.

I gave him everything.

The basement apartment. The delivery job. I even lost a baby once, drinking with clients just to get him funding.

After we got married, my parents and Vanessa came back around. Said they were sorry. Said they wanted to fix things.

I didn’t believe them at first. Neither did Caleb. He was awful to them.

Then I got pregnant.

They showed up at our door, so caring, so worried about me.

I softened. I forgave. I let them in.

I thought I finally had a family who loved me.

But for eight whole months, while I was pregnant, they were sleeping together right under my nose.

While I couldn’t sleep, while I was throwing up, while my body was falling apart, they were in the next room.

Everyone knew.

And the worst part? After every time, they’d sit at my table and pretend to hate each other.

The thought made me sick.
