The CEO Confessed In Delivery Room While I Bled Out Chapter 01

I was in hard labor when the nurse called my husband Caleb Foster into the delivery room.

He took my hand, and then, out of nowhere, he leaned close to my ear. “Your sister just found out she’s pregnant. The baby’s mine.”

I went pale, staring at him like he’d lost his mind, but Caleb simply wiped the sweat from my forehead, calm as ever.

“When your water broke last night, we were in the guest room next door. I heard you screaming, but she had me pinned down pretty good.”

“You saw her face at the hospital, all flushed. You thought she was sick and told her to go rest. But she wasn’t sick, Elena. She was glowing.”

He smiled like he was tasting the memory. “Your parents? They’ve known all along. Been helping us keep it quiet.”

My whole body locked up.

Just hours ago, they were at my door crying, wiping my face, praying I’d be okay.

Pain tore through me. I grabbed his hand and squeezed with everything I had. “Why?”

He shrugged. “You were pregnant, you wouldn’t let me touch you… and I have needs.”

“But now there’s a baby in the picture. I have to take responsibility for her.”

I opened my mouth, but nothing came out.

Tears spilled down my face, mixing with sweat.

Caleb watched me fall apart, and his eyes didn’t move an inch.

He wiped my tears like it was nothing. “The first time was when you were two months along.”

“Third time you turned me down. I was going to take care of myself in the guest bathroom, but when I opened the door, Vanessa was on the couch. Wearing that lingerie I bought you. The one you never put on.”

“I just… told myself she was you. We slept together on the couch that night. You’re a light sleeper, so she had to stay quiet.”

“She got nervous and scratched up my neck. I told you it was the office cat. You believed me, Elena. How are you this innocent?”

He patted my head like I was a child.

But I couldn’t feel anything anymore. Just cold.

I forgot I was giving birth. Forgot where I was.

I clawed at him, nails digging in as hard as I could.

Caleb winced, but he didn’t pull away. He kissed my fingers instead.

“I was going to end it after the baby came. Last night was supposed to be goodbye. But this morning, she found out she’s pregnant.”

“She said she doesn’t want an abortion. And she doesn’t want to hide anymore.”

“I didn’t think I loved her. But seeing her face fall like that? It hurt. You’re about to be a mom, Elena. You’re so good. You should understand what she’s feeling right now, right?”

The nurse kept yelling at me to push, but I had nothing left.

I wanted to ask him why he had to tell me now.

Yesterday morning, he was rubbing oil on my belly. Packing my hospital bag. Talking to the baby through my skin like he actually gave a damn.

“Hey kid, I’m your dad. You better not make mommy hurt, or you’re in trouble.”

But last night, when I crawled across the floor with my water breaking everywhere, calling his name?

He was in the next room. He heard me. He didn’t come.

When the paramedics called him, he was out of breath. Said there was an emergency at work. I told him not to rush. That I was fine.

If he hadn’t taken so long, I wouldn’t be dying on this table right now.

Hatred slammed into me, sudden and overwhelming.

I raised my hand and slapped him across the face.

Then my body went loose. The nurse screamed, “The baby’s here!”

I let out a breath. Didn’t even get to look at her.

A tearing pain ripped through me from the inside out.

The doctor’s voice went sharp. “She’s hemorrhaging!”

Right before I passed out, I saw Caleb’s face.

He was screaming.

“Save her! Do you hear me? Save my wife!”
