Looking at that hypocritical face made my stomach turn.
Every sweet memory I had once treasured now felt like a poisoned needle.
I snapped my head aside and fixed Drake with a stare full of hatred and killing rage.
I remembered the coldness in his face when he crushed my watch. I remembered him kissing Madison while I suffocated. That face now filled me with nothing but disgust.
My stare frightened Drake into taking half a step back, but he forced himself to stay calm.

His cold gaze swept over both of them.
“You can forget any thought of an engagement.”
“Everyone who was in that VIP room last night is being questioned in an NYPD interrogation room.”
Drake’s face turned the color of ash.
By the next afternoon, most of the swelling in my throat had gone down.
Sunlight spilled across the hospital bed through the blinds. I cleared my throat and finally managed to speak clearly.
I told my family and the detective taking my statement everything that had happened that night, exactly as it had happened.

My father was so furious he punched the wall and cursed.
