The Unwanted Mrs. Whitmore Chapter 05

The Unwanted Mrs. Whitmore Chapter 05

After leaving Whitmore Estate, Callum was about to drive away with Vivian.

Their circle had another gathering.

Vivian spoke lightly again.

“Lena, sorry. You really don’t fit into our circle, so we won’t bring you.”

“Didn’t Blake say it before? You can date some ordinary office worker. Since you’re free now, why not go on a date?”

I thought about it.

It really had been 2 days since I had seen Evan.

I should find a chance to see him.

So I nodded earnestly.

“You’re right. Then I’ll go first.”

Callum suddenly turned his head from the driver’s seat.

His gaze locked tightly on my face.

“You’re going on a date?”

I said, “Yeah.”

“With my boyfriend.”

We were getting divorced anyway, so there was no harm in telling him.

Unexpectedly, Callum took it the wrong way and gave a scoffing laugh.

“Lena, at least think before you lie. You stay home every day and don’t work. How could you meet someone new? Don’t be ridiculous.”

I didn’t want to argue with him.

“My business is none of yours. Go have your fun.”

He glared at me with anger in his eyes, then quickly drove away.

After confirming that Callum had gone far enough, I called a rideshare and went to Cambridge.

Evan had already finished class.

He held his books and walked quickly toward me.

Seeing no one around, he lowered his head and kissed me.

“Baby, I haven’t seen you in forever.”

I touched his face.

“Sorry. I’ve been dealing with the divorce lately.”

A surprised smile spread across Evan’s face.

He was an MIT physics PhD candidate.

We had met because of a minor traffic accident.

I was driving a Range Rover.

He was riding an old electric scooter.

After we bumped into each other, he froze for a long while.

Then he emptied his pockets and said he would pay for the repair.

We exchanged contact information.

After a while, I learned that he studied physics and that his parents had passed away.

He had worked hard all on his own and earned a research fellowship abroad.

To cover living expenses, he usually did tutoring, which was how I accidentally ran into him a few more times.

After we got together, he hated what I had been through.

He had always cared about the way Callum humiliated me.

Whenever we met in private, he would kiss me and ask how much longer he had to stay my secret boyfriend.

Today, I finally gave him a real timeline.

Evan was very happy.

“Lena, once the divorce is final, let’s move to another country, okay?”

“Your parents only treat you like an ATM. If we go far away, life will at least be peaceful.”

I smiled and nodded.

“That sounds good.”

We agreed to go out for dinner to celebrate and found a nice restaurant.

Unexpectedly, just after we sat down and ordered, I turned my head and saw Callum, Vivian, and his/ group of friends gathering in a private dining room.

The 2 of them were sitting close together.

I shifted slightly, letting the door block more of their view.

Evan was looking down at the menu.

When he saw me move, he smiled.

“What’s wrong? Hungry?”

He wasn’t stunningly handsome, but his smile was especially comforting.

I couldn’t help smiling with him.

“Yeah, a little. I missed you too much.”

Evan froze for a second because of what I said.

Then he couldn’t help standing up and leaning across the table to kiss me.

When I shot him a playful glare, he smiled a little sheepishly.

“Baby, sorry. You’re too pretty.”

I pressed my lips together, a thought crossing my

mind.

When you liked someone, everything they did seemed cute.

Neither of us looked like movie stars, but somehow, we still looked at each other like we were

everything.

We looked at each other and both smiled, a little embarrassed.

Evan kissed my hand.

“After dinner, come to my place, okay?”

I nodded.

“Okay.”

The tips of my ears burned.

Just as we leaned closer without thinking and spoke softly to each other, neither of us noticed Blake, come out to use the restroom.

He happened to see us holding each other.

He stood there in shock for a long while.

Finally, he turned and went back into the private dining room.
