My Alpha Mate Shoved Me Into The Trunk For The Omega’s Dog Chapter 10

Hemlock seemed to have undergone a complete shift.

He brought warm fresh toast to my door each morning.

He ordered bouquets of flowers delivered to me at noon.

He dropped off a cup of coffee for me every afternoon.

I’d blocked his number, so he messaged me from new lines over and over.

Nothing but confessions of regret.

Endless apologies.

These were all gestures he’d once scorned to give me.

Yet not a flicker of softness stirred inside my heart anymore.

I passed the toast and coffee out to my coworkers here.

Every bouquet landed straight in the trash bin.

As for Hemlock, I acted as if he didn’t exist at all.

Over the weekend, I received a call from the pack medical center.

Hemlock had collapsed on the side of the road from a raging fever and been rushed in by the emergency ambulance.

I was listed as his emergency contact in his phone.

I fell silent for a beat, then headed straight for the medical center.

Inside the ward, Hemlock leaned weakly against the headboard. His

lips were cracked and dry, his skin drained of all color.

The second he spotted me, his dull eyes flared to life.

Hope and desperate relief swam thick in his gaze.

“Avril, I knew you’d never truly walk away from me.”

The fever roughened every word he spoke, yet he ignored his burning body without pause.

He clung to every sweet memory we’d shared, desperate to pull my heart back to him.

“Do you remember when I first took charge of pack related issue? I had no clue what I was doing back then, but you stuck right beside me to build our pack up from nothing.”

“No matter how late I worked overtime, you’d cook dinner yourself and wait for me back at the pack house.

When rogue wolves ambushed our territory and left me defeated and bitter, you sat with me for hours, talking me back from despair.

Two years prior, I’d accidentally been poisoned with wolf bane, and you stayed awake the entire night tending to me in that very hospital bed.

Six whole years, we built everything side by side, mapping out every part of our pack’s future together…”

He stared at me, burning longing shining bright in his eyes.

He pulled a velvet jewelry box out from under his coat and pressed it into my palm.

When I flipped the lid open, a brilliant moonstone ring rested inside.

It was the exact design I’d lingered over in a shop window years ago, too reluctant to spend the money to buy it for myself back then.

“Avril, we don’t need to wait until the end of the year. Let’s hold our mating ceremony right now.”

“You’ll be the rightful, acknowledged Luna of the Nightfall Pack, and I will never bring you sorrow again.

I’ll spend every single day making amends to you, loving only you, never letting you endure a single unfair slight ever again.”

He spoke with such raw sincerity that tears spilled down his own cheeks, moved by his own promises.

I waited for him to calm before I spoke slowly, my tone steady and unyielding.

“Hemlock, don’t try to win me back with old memories.

On that trip, you stuffed me into the trunk to look after Mia instead. I collapsed from heatstroke and you left me alone in the medical center.

Meanwhile you spent the whole trip laughing and enjoying yourself with Mia, then turned around and called me overly dramatic for being hurt…”

The moment you chose to abandon me, any chance of us mending things vanished entirely.”

My words shattered every last delusion Hemlock clung to.

The faint flush that had returned to his face drained away completely once more.

I refused to glance at his ashen, devastated expression, just as he’d left me alone countless times before.

I walked out of the ward without a single backward look.

Behind me, Hemlock finally lost his grip on his emotions and broke down into ragged, unrestrained sobs.

Time slipped by fast.

Two years later, I found a mate who cherished every part of me.

My life unfolded gentle, happy, and uncomplicated.

Sometimes old friends from Blackthorn Valley would mention Hemlock to me.

Mia still hounded him relentlessly, but he never paid her any mind anymore.

He lived all alone inside the empty pack house, trapping himself in endless regret over what he’d lost.

But his joys and sorrows no longer held any weight for me.

For the rest of my life, I would only walk forward toward the happiness that belonged solely to me.
