The Seat Beside The Mafia Heir Chapter 08

The Seat Beside The Mafia Heir Chapter 08

Rocco showed up. His expression was murderous.

Santoro’s men and Conti’s men nearly came to blows in the banquet hall.

Matteo was out of control, pointing at Serena and calling her a traitor.

Serena finally broke.

“I betrayed you? You call her name in your sleep! You were using me as her replacement, and now you’re angry I made a backup plan?”

Signora Conti stormed over, screaming that Serena had been trying to climb into the Conti family while secretly marrying into the Santoros.

Lucia ran out in her wedding dress, screaming back at Signora Conti.

Don Vittorio sat at the head table, his face getting darker by the minute.

Then he had a stroke. Right there.

On the way to Santa Lucia Private Clinic, I gave Lorenzo a thumbs-up.

He sighed.

“I only did two things.”

I looked at him.

“One, I made sure Rocco couldn’t find out about Serena’s past. Two, I put the evidence on the screen.”

He said it calmly.

“The chaos wasn’t my doing. They all had debts. Valenti just collected.”

I nodded.

That was mafia logic. Pure Lorenzo.

I asked if he was worried about Don Vittorio.

Lorenzo looked out the window.

“He earned it.”

He said the Valenti Family wouldn’t exist without his grandfather, Don Aurelio Greco.

Vittorio married Isabella for Greco’s resources.

When Aurelio handed over the legitimate business and connections, Vittorio turned on him.

He’d kept more than just Lucia over the years.

She was only the one who played the game best and made it to the altar.

“Valenti Holdings was my mother’s.”

Lorenzo’s voice went low.

“I’m just taking it back.”

At the hospital, Don Vittorio was awake.

I took Lorenzo’s hand and walked to the bedside.

Then I touched my stomach and smiled at him.

“Don Vittorio, hello. I’m Gia. Lorenzo’s woman.”

His face was ashen.

I smiled wider.

“The wedding didn’t work out. Don’t be too upset. I brought you one piece of good news.”

I patted my stomach.

“I’m pregnant. You’re going to be a grandfather.”

The room went still.

“Your succession clause can take effect now. Rest well. Lorenzo and I will take care of Valenti Holdings for you.”

Vittorio’s hand trembled.

Lorenzo held mine. He didn’t stop me.

After that, Don Vittorio’s recovery was slow.

Lorenzo acted fast. He took control of Valenti Holdings and stabilized the Family.

He sent Vittorio back to Valenti Estate with private nurses.

He moved Donna Isabella to a villa on Lake Como to recover.

When I was seven months along, Lorenzo asked me to move in with him.

I said no.

He wanted to get married first. I said no again.

Nina called me ridiculous.

“You waited years for Matteo to make you his wife. Now Lorenzo is offering you the Valenti name himself. Don’t turn him into what you used to be.”

She wasn’t wrong.

But it still felt too fast.

I’d just walked out of a seven-year failure.

Now I was carrying Lorenzo’s child.

He was good to me. That was exactly why I didn’t want marriage to be only obligation.

Then Donna Isabella came to see me.

I expected it to be awkward.

She was softer than I thought.

She spoke gently.

“Gia, my marriage was a failure.”

“Because of what happened between me and his father, Lorenzo never trusted marriage. I thought he’d never bring a woman into the family.”

She smiled.

“Then you came along.”

I didn’t respond.

“I know you just ended a long relationship. Starting over with someone new feels overwhelming.”

She looked at my stomach.

“The baby gave you a way into his life. But choosing him is still up to you.”

She didn’t push.

That made it harder to resist.
