No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 09

No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 09

After that day, Elijah didn’t go back to the pack house. He didn’t even go to the office.

Kelly was something else in bed. With her young body and her shameless moves, she kept him tangled up in her for days.

Every time he thought of Audrey, Kelly pulled him back under.

She said Audrey had scarred her. Elijah had to make it up.

So he spent every waking hour shopping with her, traveling with her, spoiling her.

Three days straight. He barely looked at his phone.

On the fourth day, he had to go back to the office.

First thing he did was go find Audrey.

He went to HR. Her door was shut. She wasn’t inside.

He figured she was staying home because of the cuts on her face. He didn’t think much of it.

At the end of the day, one of Audrey’s subordinates ran up to him. “Alpha, that contract Luna Audrey was working on—”

“It can wait until she’s back. She’s taking some days off. I approved it.”

Elijah cut him off and stepped into the elevator.

“But Alpha—Luna Audrey quit days ago.”

The doors closed. Elijah didn’t hear.

Right now, all he wanted was to see Audrey.

On the way home, he drove all over town to buy her favorite cake and flowers. He was going to make it up to her.

She was his Luna. The love of his life.

Kelly had been fun. But he was done with her.

He walked through the front door.

And froze.

He thought he was in the wrong house.

Everything in the living room had been cut in half. The sofa, the dining table, the rug, even the potted plant.

His hands trembled around the bouquet.

A servant spotted him and ran over. “Alpha! You’re finally back! I’ve been calling you for days!”

Emily’s voice shook. “What do we do?”

“What… happened?”

Elijah’s voice cracked.

“Luna did it. She said you both agreed—if you ever severed the bond, everything here gets split fifty-fifty. So…”

“Severed the bond?”

Elijah frowned. When did that happen?

Yes, they signed the papers. But the waiting period wasn’t over.

And he’d changed his mind. He didn’t want to bond with Kelly anymore. He’d had his fun.

Emily looked confused. *But Luna said you already broke the bond.”

“Where is Audrey?”

Elijah’s voice came out raw. His eyes landed on the photo frame on the table—split in two. Their smiling faces torn apart. Audrey’s half was gone.

Only his half remained.

He remembered now. When they first moved in, Audrey had said: “Everything in this house, we picked out together. If you ever betray me, we split it all. Half and half.”

He’d promised her he never would.

He never thought she’d actually do it.

“She’s gone,” Emily said. “You didn’t come home for days. I thought you knew.”

“Gone?”

Elijah gripped the broken photo so hard his knuckles went white.

“Where? Where did she go?”
