No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 06

No Longer the Alpha’s Guardian Chapter 06

“Elijah. What are you doing?”

My eyes widened.

He didn’t answer.

The next second, the glass cut across my face.

“Ah!”

I couldn’t stop the cry of pain.

Even Kelly looked shocked. She hadn’t expected him to go that far.

“Elijah, don’t. That’s so cruel.”

She pretended to beg for me. Elijah just soothed her. “It’s okay. Don’t be scared. You’re going to be my Luna. If I don’t stand up for you when someone hurts you, what kind of Alpha am I?”

The sight of him wrapped around her cut deeper than any glass.

I bit my lip until I tasted copper. I wouldn’t cry.

But the tears came anyway. Like a broken necklace.

My heart should have been numb by now. But it wasn’t. Someone was carving it into pieces.

“Well? Satisfied?”

Elijah asked her. Kelly pressed her lips together, hesitating.

He took her silence as not enough.

He lifted her hand again, aimed at my other cheek, and dragged the glass across.

The pain of my skin splitting open made my vision go white.

Elijah didn’t see me. He only saw Kelly.

“Enough? No? We can keep going.”

“No, no. I don’t like blood.” Kelly shook her head. “What if I scar? Elijah, take me to the hospital. Please.”

“Okay. Whatever you want.”

He dropped the glass, scooped her up, and walked out without looking back.

At the door, a guard asked, “Alpha, what about Luna?”

“Leave her. I’ll figure out her punishment later. Right now Kelly comes first.”

They threw me on the ground. I lay there like a broken doll.

I watched Elijah carry Kelly away. He never once looked back.

The pain in my face was hell. But my heart hurt worse.

I knelt on the floor, staring at my phone a few feet away. I started to crawl toward it.

The door opened again.

Two new servants walked in. They were carrying rope.

“Who are you? Get out.”

I knew something bad was coming.

“Who are we? We’re the future Luna’s new servants. Miss Audrey. Alpha said we’re supposed to teach you some respect. Make sure you know who the real mistress of this house is. Since you keep putting your hands on Miss Kelly…”

“Elijah told you to do this?”

I couldn’t believe it.

“Alpha said a vicious woman like you needs to suffer.”

One of them grabbed my shoulders. The other dragged me to a chair and tied me down with silver chains.

The silver poison bit into my skin the second I struggled. I screamed.

My wolf screamed with me.

They shoved a cloth in my mouth before I could scream again.

Then one of them picked up a whip.

“This is all Alpha’s order. Blame yourself for not knowing your place.”

“Alpha said ninety-nine lashes.”

The first one landed.

Tears burst from my eyes. The cloth swallowed my scream.

“Alpha said Miss Kelly is the future Luna. What are you?”

The second.

I shook all over.

“Alpha said we keep going until you understand who you are.”

The third. I started to fade.

The fourth. The fifth.

The servant’s face, her cruel words, the whip—all of it blurred together.

The pain went numb. Then everything went dark.

Before I passed out, I heard her on the phone.

“She’s out. Keep going?”

“Okay. Got it. Don’t stop until we hit ninety-nine. Yes, Alpha.”

Then nothing.

In my mind, the past played like a movie.

Year one. A rival pack hunted us. I took a knife for him. Elijah went berserk, tore through them, then held me against his chest and whispered, “Don’t be afraid, Audrey. I’m here.”

“Don’t be afraid. I’ll never let anyone hurt you again.”

Now he was holding another woman, saying, “Don’t be afraid.”
