He Said Don’t Wait, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 36

“What is it?” Noah sat up, instantly alert.
I took a shaky breath and handed him the phone. It was a text from Garrett, each word a poisoned dart.
*You think you’ve won? I will ruin you. And I’ll take Noah down with you.*

The next morning, even the sunlight felt cold. Noah had already posted security around the house. He stood by the living room window, his face grim as he spoke on the phone, his conversation peppered with phrases like “trust administrator” and “morality clause.”
He ended the call and walked over to me, his eyes full of a fierce resolve. “I’m sending Sloane’s recordings to the Whitaker family’s trust administrator.” He cupped my face, forcing me to meet his gaze. “I’m going to end this. For good.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Make him pay. A real price.” He kissed my forehead. “Stay here, Maya. Please. Just wait for me.”
After he left, the house felt vast and empty. The brief, perfect happiness of the night before had been shattered.
A few hours later, my phone buzzed again.
It was Garrett.
