He Said Don’t Wait, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 33

Her voice was a whisper, as if she’d used up all her fight. “Just… be happy. Maybe the two of you can prove that there’s at least one man in the world who knows how to put a woman first.”
She stood, a little unsteadily, but paused at the door. She looked back at me, her expression unreadable. “Be careful, Maya. Garrett’s unhinged. This isn’t about pride anymore. It’s personal. He’ll do anything.”
She vanished into the night. I turned to Noah, my voice trembling. “Can we trust her?”
He was already scrolling through the phone’s contents, his brow furrowed. “The recordings seem legitimate. I’ll have Marcus verify them. But…” He looked up, and I could tell that even with this, the war was far from over. “This is enough. We can win this battle.”

That night, Noah was in the study, cross-referencing the evidence Sloane had provided. I brought him a cup of coffee and stood in the doorway, watching the way the lamplight carved his focused profile out of the darkness.
“Any progress?” I asked softly.
He looked up, and a tired smile touched his lips. “Enough to bury Garrett and his family in court. But not enough to make him pay the price he deserves.”
