My Son Called Her Mom So I Named My Price Chapter 08

Meanwhile, I opened my eyes, my throat so dry I could barely make a sound.

“Am I dead?”

A man’s soft laugh suddenly came from beside me.

I forced myself to turn my head.

The face I saw was one I never would have expected:

Sebastian Bradford—Adrian’s uncle, who had been raised overseas, was the thorn in Adrian’s side and the one person in the Bradford family most likely to threaten his position.

Sebastian set a mug of warm lemon water on the nightstand.

Then, like a gentleman, he helped me sit up and handed the mug to me.

“Can you drink on your own?”

“Yes.”

I silently took the mug, still stunned.

“Were you the one who saved me?”

After I finished the water, I finally felt a little steadier and looked around the room.

“You were the one who called me.”

Sebastian looked at me with interest.

“I was actually going to ask you why you set me as your emergency contact.”

“That day, I was in a company meeting. My phone was on silent, but it suddenly went off with an alert saying you’d been in an accident. It included your location too.”

“By the time I got there, you already had one foot in the grave.”

“Lucky you’re hard to kill, and lucky it was me you reached. I had the resources to drag you back from the other side.”

Hearing that, I took out my phone in surprise.

Only then did I realize that when I had set up my emergency contacts, my finger must have slipped. Instead of selecting Adrian, I had selected Sebastian.

I had never noticed it until now.

A mistake I had made by accident had somehow saved my life.

I leaned against the headboard, unable to calm down for a long time.

For a moment, I had almost thought that even after being given a second chance at life, I still had not managed to rewrite my tragedy.

“Thank you. Truly. You saved my life.”

I tried to sit up and give him a proper bow of thanks, but he firmly pressed me back down.

“I looked into what happened to you. You and Adrian got divorced? Because of his childhood sweetheart?”

At the mention of the past, I still could not pretend to be calm.

I only nodded lightly.

“Don’t worry. To make sure the person I worked so hard to save can recover in peace, I took care of the security footage after that point.”

“The medical team treating you is also a private team I brought in from overseas. Adrian and the others won’t know where you are.”

I looked up in surprise. I had not expected him to handle everything so thoroughly.

“Really… thank you.”

My heart was tangled with too many emotions. A debt like this was something I had no way to repay.

Besides, my situation was complicated. I was the ex-wife of Sebastian’s sworn rival.

Sebastian let out a soft laugh.

“If you’re that grateful, would you consider repaying me?”

“How? As long as it’s something I can do, I’ll do my best.”

Sebastian handed me a wedding invitation, his expression playful.

“Be my wife.”

I stared at him in disbelief, almost thinking I had heard him wrong.

“What?”

Sebastian tapped the blank space on the invitation where the bride’s name should have been.

“I said, be my wife.”

“Ever since we were kids, Adrian has loved taking things from me, whether it was educational opportunities, the elders’ attention, or the heir’s position.”

“Now that I finally have the chance, I’d like him to taste what it feels like to have everything he treasures taken away.”

Sebastian leaned back.

“I’ve prepared the wedding, the dress, and the diamond ring.”

“And I’ll take responsibility for you. This won’t be a fake wedding. You’ll truly become my wife in the eyes of the law.”

“As long as you agree, from now on, you’ll have every privilege that comes with being Mrs. Sebastian Bradford. I won’t mistreat you.”

“Think it over carefully. I won’t force you. After all, it is a bit much to ask.”

I answered without hesitation.

“I’ll do it.”
