My Husband Wiped The Handle My Brother Touched And Called It Clean Chapter 05

“Divorced? How is that possible…” Ethan’s face went completely pale, staring at me in sheer disbelief.

He turned his head, his eyes locked onto the waiver the police had just rejected. “Impossible! When did we ever go to the courthouse? Stop making things up!”

I looked at his frantic, unraveled state with absolute calm.

“Mr. Miller is a busy man. You probably didn’t even look closely at what you were signing two weeks ago.”

“Right beneath that equity waiver cover sheet was our divorce agreement,” I explained. “Along with your statement voluntarily forfeiting asset division.”

“Thanks to your enthusiastic signing, my lawyer took your power of attorney and fast-tracked every single procedure,” I added.

Ethan’s body swayed violently.

He seemed to recall that afternoon outside the office building. He had been so desperate to grab the equity that he signed his name without looking at a single page inside.

“You… you set a trap for me from the very start?” He reached out, trying to grab my shoulder.

I swerved away with pure revulsion. “Don’t touch me. You make me sick.”

Just then, the operating room door swung open. The lead surgeon stepped out, drenched in sweat.

“Are Logan Clark’s relatives here? We saved his life, but his right leg suffered extreme trauma.”

“While we managed to avoid amputation, there is a very high probability of permanent disability,” the doctor continued. “He won’t be able to engage in strenuous sports ever again.”

Hearing this, my mother’s eyes rolled back. She collapsed into complete unconsciousness.

I scrambled to support her, my tears finally breaking free and crashing down.

Logan was a star athlete. He had just earned his National First-Class Athlete certification.

His absolute dream was to make it to the national team.

Now, his dream was shattered. It was crushed to pieces by Stella’s worthless little brother.

“Did you hear that, Ethan?” I raised my head, staring at him through blurred, tearful eyes.

“Your precious little brother ruined my brother’s entire life. Do you honestly think five million dollars can buy a leg?”

Looking at the despair in my eyes, a flicker of panic and guilt finally crossed Ethan’s face.

He opened his mouth, trying to say something, but Stella beat him to it.

“It’s just a leg! Can’t we just compensate you with money?!” she shrieked hysterically. “Ethan, save Austin! The police are taking him away!”

At the end of the hallway, the two officers were escorting a handcuffed Austin forward.

Austin was still shouting profanities. “Sis! Ethan! Tell them to let go of me! I just had a few drinks, it’s not like I killed anyone!”

Staring at the reeking, intoxicated Austin, Ethan’s brows knit into a tight knot. He instinctively took a step forward, attempting to block the officers.

“Officers, can we find a compromise? We’ll pay whatever bail amount is required.”

The officer shoved him aside expressionless. “Driving without a license, DUI, hit-and-run with extreme negligence. Bail? Get a lawyer and wait for sentencing.”

As Austin was dragged away kicking, Stella collapsed onto the floor, howling and sobbing uncontrollably.

Ethan turned back to me, his tone dropping into a plea.

“Chloe, I know you’re devastated about Logan’s accident. I’ll hire the absolute best orthopedic specialists from Europe to handle his rehabilitation.”

“But Austin is still young; he won’t survive a day in prison,” he begged.
“Can you please, for my sake, go talk to the police and drop this?”

Looking at his entitled, casual face, I found it laughably absurd.

“Ethan, do you honestly believe that if you throw a little charity my way, I have to bow down and thank you?”

I wiped my tears, pulled a document from my bag, and slammed it straight into his face. “You better worry about your own company first.”

Ethan caught the paper instinctively and glanced down. With just one look, his face drained into a deathly gray.

“Ethan, the core algorithm patent for Starry Sky Tech has always been registered under my personal name.”

“And just moments ago,” I whispered coldly, “I granted an exclusive license to Horizon Media—your biggest rival.”
