When He Said I Was The Replacement, I Said Finally Chapter 05

On the day of the class reunion, I spent some time agonizing over which outfit to wear, so I ended up being a little late.

I never expected Cyrus to arrive at the exact same time as me. There were exactly two seats left, saved for me and Cyrus.

Sitting next to Cyrus, I felt my heart was pounding like crazy—I was so nervous and flustered.

This made me mess up again and again. My hands shook so much I could barely hold my food, I dropped my cutlery on the floor, and I even knocked over a water glass. The more mistakes I made, the more flustered I got, and it just kept spiraling…

Cyrus was a true gentleman. Even when I spilled water on his pants, he never got angry.

He got the waiter to bring me new cutlery, wiped the table for me and refilled my water, even picked out the dishes I liked for me.

And… he didn’t use the serving cutlery…

I stared blankly at the food in my plate, lost in thought, when I suddenly heard Cyrus’ clear voice in my ear. “Sorry, I forgot to use serving cutlery. Do you mind it? Shall I ask the waiter to get you a new bowl?”

I shook my head frantically, picked up a spare rib and stuffed it into my mouth. “I don’t mind at all, no need to be so formal.”

It was kinda an indirect kiss, right? How could I possibly mind!

I vaguely saw Cyrus’ faint smile, and my heart beat even faster.

Indeed, this feeling couldn’t be replicated by anyone else, even someone who looked exactly like him.

I intentionally drank a few extra glasses of wine, then made an excuse to go to the bathroom and asked Cyrus to come with me. He agreed right away.

Buoyed by the alcohol, I cornered him at the end of the hallway. My face bright red, I said seriously, “Cyrus, I’ve had a crush on you for a long time. If you don’t have a partner or a crush right now, would you consider giving me a chance?

“I actually have a lot of good qualities. I’m loyal, I can cook and make soup, I have a good temper, and I never throw unnecessary fits. Oh, and I’m pretty well-off financially right now, so I’ll never be a burden to you…”

I twisted the hem of my shirt, staring at him nervously.

If I got rejected this time, Cyrus and I would probably never cross paths again…

“Okay.”

I thought I misheard, tilting my head to confirm. “What did you say?”

Cyrus gently took my hand, his eyes unbearably soft. “I said okay.

“I’m sorry I made you confess first.”

His words left me dizzy and confused. I could only blink and ask again, “What do you mean?”

“I came here tonight to ask you out too.” Cyrus leaned down slightly to meet my eye level. “I have a stable job now, enough savings, and I can cook and make soup too—you don’t have to do any of that. My relationship history and social circle are completely clear. Elena, will you be my girlfriend?”

Tears streamed down my face, and I was so excited. I kept nodding over and over. “Yes! I will!”
