The Don’s Rejected Wife Chapter 03

The Don’s Rejected Wife Chapter 03

Every drop of blood in my body turned cold.

The timestamp on the video was from the day my mother had been hit.

The driver was Isabella Rossi.

And my husband and son had erased the evidence for her. They had given her a new identity so she could walk free.

That year, I had run toward the police in slippers, covered in blood. Luca and Marco had caught up to me and wrapped themselves around me, one on each side.

“Mom, let Dad handle it,” Marco had whispered. “You’ll catch a cold…”

I had actually believed they would get justice for my mother.

God, I had been stupid.

The next evening, I walked into Isabella’s birthday gala at the Roosevelt Hotel.

Dressed in a designer gown worth more than my mother’s life savings, Isabella stood at the center of the ballroom. Luca never left her side, and Marco trailed after her like a devoted shadow. Anyone looking at them would have assumed she was Mrs. Romano.

Every guest looked me over with disgust and mockery.

Luca and Marco smiled with cold satisfaction.

“Well, look who it is,” Luca said. “Finally decided to crawl back?”

I stood there, eyes red.

“You knew Isabella was the one who left my mother in a coma,” I said. “And you helped her run.”

Marco was still a child after all. He flinched and took half a step back, avoiding my eyes.

Luca froze for half a second. Then that cold mask slid back into place.

“Stella, don’t cause a scene at Bella’s party.”

That was all the answer I needed.

“Ah!”

Isabella suddenly staggered sideways and crashed into the three-tier cake. Frosting and cream exploded across the table.

“Mrs. Romano, please don’t hit me,” she sobbed. “Please, don’t be like your mother. I’m sorry…”

“Bella!”

Luca and Marco rushed to her.

No one noticed when I stumbled back and stepped on a shattered champagne flute. Glass drove deep into my heel, and blood pooled across the marble floor.

“Stella, I knew that sweet act was fake,” Luca snapped. “You and your mother have been abusing Bella behind my back.”

Marco grabbed a shard of glass and threw it at me.

“Bad woman! Stay away from Bella!”

Whispers spread through the crowd.

“She couldn’t keep her husband, so now she’s bullying the mistress? Pathetic. No wonder her mother ended up like that.”

“Look at her. A real Donna would never behave this way. She’s gutter trash. Even her own son hates her.”

I forced myself to stand as their words sliced into me.

Then I saw it again. My mother lying in a pool of blood.

Isabella hid behind Luca and gave me a small, triumphant smile.

By the time I came back to myself, my hands were already locked around her throat.

“You hit her with your car!”

A brutal force ripped me away.

“Stella, have you lost your mind?”

Luca and Marco stepped in front of Isabella, shielding her with their bodies.

I staggered backward, my foot slipping into empty air.

Then I fell.

My body slammed down the long staircase, step after step, until every bone felt like it had cracked.

Isabella peeked out from behind them, victory written all over her face.

I was about to lunge at her again when Luca seized me by the throat and leaned close.

His voice was low and lethal.

“You’re going to make a public statement. You’ll say your mother attacked Bella first. You’ll say Bella acted in self-defense.”

His fingers tightened.

“Otherwise…”

His eyes went ice-cold.

“Your mother pays the price.”
